Juventus have chosen Plan B if Dibu deal fails

Juventus continue to prioritize strengthening their goalkeeping department ahead of the new season, with the club’s hierarchy determined to provide Luciano Spalletti with an experienced goalkeeper capable of bringing leadership, personality, and reliability to the squad.

While Aston Villa star Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez remains the Bianconeri’s preferred target, another world-class option has emerged as a serious alternative: David De Gea.

According to TuttoJuve, Martínez remains Juventus’ first-choice candidate. The Argentine World Cup winner is highly appreciated in Turin for his vast international experience, commanding presence, and ability to organize the defensive line.

Talks with Aston Villa are ongoing, but negotiations remain complicated, and no decisive breakthrough has been reached so far.

De Gea Ready as the Main Backup Option

Should the pursuit of Martínez ultimately fail, Juventus are prepared to turn their attention to David De Gea.

The Spanish goalkeeper is regarded as an ideal fit for Luciano Spalletti, who is eager to add a proven No. 1 with elite-level experience if Michele Di Gregorio departs this summer. The Italian goalkeeper could leave Turin should the club receive a satisfactory offer.

However, signing De Gea will be far from straightforward. Fiorentina consider the former Manchester United star a cornerstone of their project and, at this stage, have no intention of sanctioning his departure.

Moreover, the Spanish international has not expressed any desire to leave Florence, making a potential transfer even more complicated.

Financial Terms Would Not Be an Issue

From a financial standpoint, Juventus would have little difficulty meeting De Gea’s salary demands.

The veteran goalkeeper is under contract with Fiorentina until 2028, with an option to extend for an additional season, and currently earns around €4 million net per year—figures that fall within Juventus’ wage structure.

For now, Martínez remains the priority, but with negotiations still at a standstill, the Bianconeri are keeping De Gea firmly on their shortlist as they continue searching for the ideal goalkeeper to lead Spalletti’s new-look Juventus.
