Juventus open talks with Two midfielders

Juventus are continuing to work on several midfield possibilities as they look to add another player before the transfer window closes.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pape Matar Sarr remains the club’s leading option, but the Bianconeri are refusing to focus exclusively on the Tottenham midfielder and have opened discussions with alternative targets.

One of those names is Dário Essugo, the young midfielder owned by Chelsea. Juventus have already made contact regarding the Portugal international, who would represent a more long-term investment.

Essugo combines physical strength with an ability to win the ball back, qualities that could suit Luciano Spalletti’s midfield.

However, at his age, he would likely need time to adapt to the demands of Serie A and the tactical expectations of the new Juventus coach.

Bissouma Experience, Fofana Also Considered

A very different profile is offered by Yves Bissouma. The midfielder is available following the end of his spell at Tottenham and could potentially arrive without a transfer fee.

His international experience would immediately add maturity to the squad, although Juventus would still need to assess his salary demands and physical condition before making a final decision, Gazzetta reports.

The Bianconeri have also made an enquiry about Youssouf Fofana of AC Milan. The French midfielder had already been offered to Juventus in recent weeks, but negotiations currently appear more complicated than some of the other options on the club’s shortlist.

Juventus’ approach is therefore clear: keep several negotiations alive simultaneously and avoid reaching the final days of the market without a solution for the midfield.

The urgency has increased because of Khéphren Thuram’s situation. The Frenchman missed pre-season because of a patellofemoral syndrome and has experienced further pain in recent days. He was not even included on the bench against Parma.

Thuram is expected to travel to Lyon at the beginning of the week for a specialist consultation with Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet, who has previously operated on Juventus defenders Bremer and Federico Gatti.

The priority is to identify an effective treatment and avoid surgery. For now, however, there is still no clear timetable for Thuram’s return, making midfield reinforcement an increasingly important priority for Juventus.
