Darwin Núñez decide about his future

Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez is reportedly preparing for a return to European football after reaching an agreement with Al-Hilal to terminate his contract early.

According to A Bola and El Observador, the decision comes after a difficult second half of the season for the 26-year-old forward in Saudi Arabia.

Núñez joined Al-Hilal last summer after leaving European football behind, and his overall numbers were far from disappointing.

Across 24 appearances, the Uruguayan recorded nine goals and five assists, showing flashes of the quality that previously made him one of Europe’s most talked-about attacking players.

Despite those contributions, circumstances off the pitch significantly affected his role at the club. In February, Al-Hilal reportedly informed Darwin Núñez that he would lose his registration spot due to foreign player restrictions in the Saudi Pro League.

As a result, the striker has not featured in competitive action for the past two months, creating uncertainty around his future and accelerating discussions over a possible departure.

Chelsea and Juventus Monitoring the Situation

As reported by El Observador, both Chelsea and Juventus are among the clubs keeping a close eye on Núñez’s situation.

His expected availability as a free agent could make him an attractive market opportunity, especially given his experience at the highest level of European football.

The report also states that Núñez’s final decision regarding his next club will likely arrive after completing his World Cup campaign with Uruguay national football team.

With several top European sides expected to assess attacking reinforcements this summer, the striker could soon have the chance to relaunch his career on one of football’s biggest stages once again.
