Juventus have chosen Carnesecchi

Juventus are already taking notes for the future, and one name continues to stand out among their goalkeeper targets: Marco Carnesecchi.

The 26-year-old Atalanta goalkeeper has established himself as one of the most highly regarded shot-stoppers in Serie A over the past few seasons. With Atalanta facing Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus today at 18:00, Carnesecchi will once again be under the spotlight.

The Italian goalkeeper has long attracted interest from several top clubs, including Juventus. However, none have yet made a concrete move for him.

According to the situation outlined around Atalanta sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli, a €50 million offer could potentially convince the Bergamo club to consider a sale.

Carnesecchi’s Future Could Become a Major Story

Carnesecchi remains an important figure for Maurizio Sarri’s Atalanta and has a strong emotional connection with the club that developed him through its youth academy before giving him his first-team opportunity.

His current contract runs until June 2028, but according to Tuttosport, there are currently no concrete signs of an agreement over a further extension.

That situation could attract renewed interest in the coming months, with potential suitors hoping to negotiate a more favourable price.

A deal would still be complicated. The Percassi family has repeatedly shown its ability to secure strong transfer fees for Atalanta’s most valuable players.

At almost 27, however, Carnesecchi could also begin considering the possibility of taking the next major step in his career and testing himself at an even bigger club.

Juventus have been following the goalkeeper for some time. As Tuttosport reports, the Bianconeri spent much of the summer searching for a reliable and experienced goalkeeper for Spalletti.

After Aston Villa’s demands for Emiliano Martínez were considered too expensive, Juventus turned their attention first to Guglielmo Vicario, who arrived from Tottenham on loan with an €8 million purchase option, and then to Kamil Grabara.

Both were viewed as short-term solutions because Juventus did not have the budget for a major goalkeeper investment this season.

Grabara’s serious knee injury has now forced sporting director Massara and CEO Carnevali to consider an emergency solution from the free-agent market. However, next summer could be different.

Juventus Face Competition for the Italian No. 1

If Juventus want Carnesecchi, significant financial resources will be required, as well as the attraction of playing Champions League football. Competition for the 2000-born goalkeeper is expected to be strong, both in Italy and abroad.

Inter could also monitor the situation closely. Carnesecchi supported the Nerazzurri as a child, and Inter are expected to carefully assess the performances of Josep Martínez and Ivan Provedel this season.

In around nine months, they could potentially return to the negotiating table with the Percassi family and explore a deal for the highly rated goalkeeper, who has also become part of the Italian national-team setup.

Premier League clubs should not be overlooked either. English sides have repeatedly demonstrated their willingness to meet Atalanta’s financial demands when pursuing the club’s most valuable players.

For Juventus, Carnesecchi could therefore become one of the names to watch closely ahead of next summer’s transfer window.
