Juventus have revived their interest in Alexander Sorloth as negotiations with Atletico Madrid over Nico Gonzalez could unexpectedly pave the way for the Norwegian striker’s arrival in Turin.

According to Tuttosport, Luciano Spalletti remains a strong admirer of the 30-year-old forward, considering him one of the ideal profiles to strengthen the Bianconeri’s attack ahead of the new season.

Despite an underwhelming FIFA Club World Cup campaign with Norway, where Sorloth struggled to establish himself alongside the undisputed attacking leader Erling Haaland, Juventus’ opinion of the striker has not changed.

Spalletti continues to value his physical presence, aerial ability, and capacity to play with his back to goal—qualities the coach believes are essential for his tactical system.

Spalletti Still Convinced by Sorloth

Juventus’ interest in Sorloth is not new. Before the Club World Cup, former executives Damien Comolli and Marco Ottolini had already opened discussions with Atletico Madrid regarding a potential transfer.

During that period, Spalletti personally contacted the striker to explain his tactical project and gauge his willingness to return to Serie A, a league with significantly different tactical demands compared to La Liga.

The conversation reportedly produced positive feedback, with Sorloth enthusiastic about the possibility of wearing the famous black-and-white shirt.

However, Juventus’ internal restructuring temporarily put the deal on hold.

The departures of Comolli and the arrivals of Giovanni Carnevali and sporting director Ricky Massara slowed negotiations, while Atletico Madrid’s €40 million valuation of the striker also complicated matters.

Nico Gonzalez Could Unlock the Deal

In recent days, discussions between Juventus and Atletico Madrid have resumed, this time primarily centered around Nico Gonzalez.

The Argentine has never hidden his desire to reunite with Diego Simeone, and Atletico remain keen on bringing him back.

Juventus, however, are demanding at least €30 million to begin negotiations. According to Tuttosport, there could be room for flexibility if Atletico agree to include Sorloth on an initial paid loan deal, creating a transfer formula that benefits both clubs financially.

From a sporting perspective, the move also makes sense. Sorloth has produced outstanding numbers over the past three seasons, scoring 26 goals with Villarreal, followed by 24 and then 20 goals after joining Atletico Madrid.

His consistency has even surpassed Randal Kolo Muani’s goal output during the same period. With Julian Alvarez now the focal point of Atletico’s attack, Sorloth has become more of a luxury squad option in Madrid.

Meanwhile, Juventus appear increasingly prepared to part ways with Nico Gonzalez, especially after the arrival of Kerim Alajbegovic further strengthened the attacking department.

The Argentine dreams of working under Simeone once again, while Sorloth is reportedly intrigued by the prospect of joining Spalletti in Turin.

As negotiations continue, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are exploring a deal that could satisfy both managers while also meeting the financial needs of the two clubs—a modern football solution that may benefit everyone involved.
