Conte – Juventus, arrives first confirmations

Antonio Conte is inevitably back on the minds of Juventus fans. One defeat is sometimes enough to bring his name back into the conversation, particularly after a painful result like the 3-2 loss to Sassuolo.

However, there is an important detail to consider. According to Il Giornale, Conte currently appears reluctant to return to the touchline immediately.

The former Juventus coach could instead use the current season to recharge his batteries before waiting until June, when he would have the opportunity to choose a new project and, more importantly, build it from the beginning. That could ultimately be the ideal scenario for Conte himself.

Why Conte May Prefer to Wait

Everyone knows how deeply Conte likes to influence every aspect of a team. His approach goes far beyond simply coaching matches. He wants to have a say in the squad, the preparation, the tactical structure and the overall direction of the project.

Taking over a team midway through a season would therefore deprive him of an important part of his method. He would not have selected the players, would not have overseen the pre-season preparation and would inherit a squad assembled according to another coach’s ideas.

Conte would then be expected to solve problems created during a process in which he had no involvement. It would hardly represent the ideal conditions for him to start a new chapter.

For this reason, changing Spalletti now could make even less sense for Juventus.

Spalletti is under scrutiny following the team’s difficult start, but the club continues to publicly back him. Giovanni Carnevali has reiterated the club’s approach: build, plan and allow the project time to develop rather than change coaches at the first sign of trouble.

Sacking Spalletti now only to hand Conte a squad designed for a different coach could therefore create problems on two fronts. It would undermine the current project while simultaneously placing Conte in a situation that does not suit his preferred working methods.

June Could Change Everything

By June, however, the situation could look completely different. If Juventus were to endure a disappointing season and Spalletti’s project failed to deliver the expected results, the club could sit down and reassess the entire situation.

At that point, a potential move for Conte would become a much more realistic discussion, with the coach able to start from the beginning and shape the team according to his own vision.

For now, however, the idea of Conte returning immediately appears far less straightforward than the reaction among some Juventus supporters might suggest.
