Antonio Conte make big decision on his future

When Antonio Conte is available and without a club, no manager or bench can truly feel safe. The Italian coach has built a reputation for delivering success and results, and for teams struggling with form or facing a crisis, having a top-level manager like Conte available on the market is naturally an attractive prospect for many sporting directors.

That is why Conte’s presence in the stands for Milan’s clash with Benfica immediately increased the pressure surrounding Ruben Amorim, who has endured a series of disappointing results and seen his team’s performances fall well short of expectations.

It also explains why Luciano Spalletti was asked about Conte during his press conference. But what does Antonio Conte actually want? There is an interesting background story dating back to the last winter transfer window.

Conte Rejected a Huge Saudi Arabia Offer

During the summer, after Conte ended his spell at Napoli and the club quickly turned to Massimiliano Allegri, an offer from the Saudi Pro League arrived on the Italian coach’s desk.

According to Fabrizio Romano, it was a huge financial proposal, well beyond the spending levels normally seen in Italy and even across Europe. The offer came from Al-Ahli, but Conte decided to turn it down because he had no intention of moving so far away from his footballing environment.

Rumours linking him with Fenerbahce in Turkey also faded relatively quickly. Conte had essentially decided to take a short break from the daily pressures of coaching and wants to return only when the right opportunity emerges — ideally at an ambitious club with a top-level European project focused on growth and development.

Juventus Remains a Different Story

According to the report, Juventus represents the one exception. Conte would reportedly accept a return to the Turin club without hesitation, while other clubs would need to offer far more than simply a prestigious name or a historic reputation to convince him.

That is why, for now, both Luciano Spalletti and Ruben Amorim could arguably hope that Manchester United provide Conte with his next destination, removing the possibility of him becoming a future threat to their positions.

Michael Carrick’s position in the Premier League is also under scrutiny, although Manchester United’s ownership has reportedly indicated that there is currently no intention of making a short-term managerial change.

Nevertheless, Conte’s name has started circulating around Old Trafford, with some supporters also pushing for the experienced Italian to take charge.
