Real Madrid prepare first offer for Locatelli

Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Juventus captain Manuel Locatelli as they continue to assess their midfield options ahead of the 2026/27 season.

According to reports from Ekrem Konur, also cited by Fichajes Espana, the 28-year-old Italian international has emerged as one of the names being studied by the Spanish giants.

The club are looking for a midfielder capable of controlling possession, dictating the tempo and helping the team build attacks from deeper positions.

Locatelli Fits Real Madrid’s Midfield Requirements

The interest comes after Real Madrid’s pursuit of Rodri failed to materialize, prompting the club to examine alternative solutions. Locatelli is viewed as a player who could offer a different profile while still providing the technical qualities required to organize the game.

The Juventus captain is particularly effective when dropping between or close to the centre-backs to receive possession and initiate play.

His ability to keep the ball moving through short, accurate passes allows him to connect the defensive and midfield lines while giving his team greater control.

José Mourinho is reportedly attracted to Locatelli’s profile and sees the Italian as a potentially more practical and cost-effective option compared with other midfield targets.

However, Real Madrid’s interest has not yet developed into formal negotiations. The club must first create room within the squad and improve its financial flexibility.

The futures of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni are therefore expected to play a major role in determining whether Locatelli becomes a genuine target.

Real Madrid Waiting for Squad Decision

The Spanish club are expected to wait until around August 15 for greater clarity regarding their French midfielders.

If either Camavinga or Tchouaméni leaves, Real Madrid could then turn their attention towards Locatelli and make contact with his representatives.

For Juventus, the situation could become significant. Locatelli remains an important figure in Turin and wears the captain’s armband, meaning any approach from Real Madrid would immediately raise questions about his future.

At this stage, however, no formal offer has been made. Real Madrid’s next move will depend heavily on whether they manage to free up a midfield position before the transfer window closes.
