Reports from Portugal suggest that super-agent Jorge Mendes is preparing to find a new destination for his client, Antonio Silva, whose contract with Benfica expires next year.
During ongoing talks with Juventus regarding the other Silva—Bernardo—the name of the young defender could once again enter discussions.

Benfica are keen to extend his deal and build their future around him, but according to A Bola, the player may have different plans.
At just 22 years old, Silva has already made 176 appearances for the Lisbon club, underlining his importance. However, despite his experience and current role, his long-term future at Benfica is far from certain.
The club and the player’s camp are currently on opposite sides regarding a contract renewal. While this has not affected his regular involvement under José Mourinho, the contractual situation remains unresolved and increasingly significant.
Three Options for Benfica, But Obstacles Remain
Benfica now face three possible paths: sell Antonio Silva this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year, keep him despite the risk of a future free departure, or reach an agreement to renew his contract—clearly the club’s preferred solution.
However, two major hurdles complicate a renewal. First, Silva is expected to demand a salary exceeding €4 million gross per season. Second, he wants guarantees of being central to the club’s long-term project.
As highlighted by A Bola, Silva has already missed out on potential moves in recent months, including interest from the Premier League—particularly Newcastle—and a previous approach from Juventus during Cristiano Giuntoli’s tenure.

The defender’s current contract includes a hefty €100 million release clause, but a move could still materialize—especially if Juventus decide to make a significant defensive sale.
Meanwhile, Benfica will attempt to convince Silva to commit to a new deal by presenting an ambitious sporting project. Still, there is a growing sense in Portugal that both the player and Mendes may be considering other options.
Several of Mendes’ former Benfica clients, such as João Neves and Gonçalo Ramos, have already moved abroad, and Silva could soon follow a similar path.
For now, however, Juventus’ immediate priorities lie elsewhere. New talks with Mendes are expected soon—but primarily concerning Bernardo Silva, not Antonio.
