Mauro Icardi is eager to return to Italian football, and Juventus have reportedly emerged as the most realistic destination for the Argentine striker ahead of the January transfer window.
According to TyC Sports, the Argentine media outlet has provided fresh details about the 33-year-old’s future. Icardi has been without a club since June, following the expiration of his contract with Galatasaray, and is now keen to make a return to Serie A.

His desire to return to Italy is so strong that he would even be willing to accept a significant reduction in his salary to make the move happen.
Inter Rejected Icardi’s Return
Initially, Icardi made several attempts to reopen the door to Inter Milan, even offering to accept a reduced role within the squad and become a backup option rather than a regular starter. He was also prepared to substantially lower his salary.
However, those efforts proved unsuccessful. Inter president Giuseppe Marotta made the club’s position clear ahead of the match against Feyenoord, ruling out a possible reunion.
“His consideration is certainly pleasing, given how much he has done for Inter, but honestly, he is not part of our plans, just as we have no intention of signing another striker,” Marotta explained.
Spalletti Could Be the Key to Juventus Move
With Inter no longer an option, Juventus have reportedly become Icardi’s most concrete possibility for January, according to TyC Sports.
A major factor behind this potential move is the presence of Luciano Spalletti on the Bianconeri bench. The Italian manager previously worked with Icardi at Inter, overseeing one of the most successful periods of the striker’s career.

Spalletti is now looking for reinforcements in attack alongside the Juventus management, with the current options, Randal Kolo Muani and Nick Woltemade, yet to deliver the consistency expected.
A reunion between Spalletti and Icardi could therefore become an intriguing possibility as Juventus consider strengthening their attacking department in the winter transfer window.
