After the dismissal of Igor Tudor, Juventus have decided to turn a new page by appointing Luciano Spalletti as their head coach.
According to Calciomercato, the Italian tactician has signed a contract until June, with an option to extend it should the team secure Champions League qualification.

Spalletti, known for his bold style and tactical clarity, has already expressed confidence that Juventus can rejoin the race for the Serie A title. To achieve that ambition, Spalletti has made it clear that the team needs reinforcements during the January transfer window.

The midfield is seen as the main area requiring an upgrade. Juventus are planning at least one key addition to strengthen their central line, with Morten Hjulmand of Sporting Lisbon emerging as one of the leading targets.
The Danish midfielder, currently the captain of Sporting, has caught Juventus’ attention for his leadership and composure on the ball. The Bianconeri have already made informal contact with his representatives, though no official negotiations between the clubs have taken place yet.

Hjulmand’s contract includes a €60 million release clause, and Sporting are reportedly unwilling to reduce that price. This makes the deal complicated, particularly since the Portuguese club resisted a €40 million offer from Manchester United last summer.
Other midfield options on the table
While Hjulmand remains a strong candidate, Juventus are also considering Sandro Tonali. Tonali, currently with Newcastle United, is admired by the Juventus management for his technical quality and Italian experience.

However, Newcastle view him as a vital part of their long-term project. And are even considering extending his contract, which already runs until 2028.
Despite financial challenges, Juventus seem determined to make at least one strategic investment in midfield. Either in January or in the summer of 2026, potentially through a loan move to bridge the gap.
What’s clear is that Spalletti’s arrival marks the start of a new era at Juventus, one built on ambition, tactical renewal, and the pursuit of excellence.
