Juventus could soon add a South American voice to their midfield. According to Tuttosport, the Bianconeri are currently evaluating Matias Galarza, one of Paraguay’s emerging talents, as they assess whether to make a move for the 2002-born midfielder.

Galarza was reportedly proposed to the Juventus hierarchy in recent days, and the club are now considering the opportunity.

His profile has attracted attention because of a quality Juventus currently lack: a midfielder capable of connecting the lines, controlling the tempo and orchestrating play from a deeper position.

Galarza emerges as a low-cost option

According to Tuttosport, Luciano Spalletti is considering Galarza precisely because of his ability to dictate the game from midfield.

Sporting director Federico Massara is also aware that the opportunity could represent excellent value for money, with River Plate reportedly willing to let the Paraguayan leave for around €6 million.

However, Juventus have other priorities to address before turning their attention to another midfielder.

The club are focused on the pursuit of Jhon Lucumí, a new first-choice goalkeeper and a deputy for Kolo Muani.

Furthermore, a new midfielder would likely require an exit first, with Arthur, Teun Koopmeiners and Fabio Miretti among the players whose futures could influence the situation.

Nevertheless, the need for a deep-lying playmaker was once again highlighted during Juventus’ recent friendly against Inter in Australia.

The Bianconeri showed moments of quality but also appeared to lack a natural player capable of taking control of the midfield and dictating the rhythm from deep.

Who is Matias Galarza?

Born in Asunción, Paraguay, in 2002, Galarza is currently owned by River Plate after building a career across South America and, more recently, the United States.

He developed through the youth system at Olimpia Asunción before moving to Brazil at the age of 18 to join Vasco da Gama. Between 2021 and 2023, he made 58 appearances and scored five goals for the club, while also spending part of the 2022 season on loan at Coritiba, where he played 11 matches.

Galarza subsequently moved to Argentina, joining Talleres in 2023. He spent two seasons there, making 68 appearances and scoring five goals, before moving to River Plate in 2025. He made 14 appearances for the Buenos Aires giants without scoring.

In the first part of 2026, Galarza moved on loan to Atlanta United in MLS, making 10 appearances. At international level, he has already established himself with Paraguay, earning 19 caps and scoring four goals.

For now, Juventus are proceeding cautiously. Galarza is not yet a priority, but with his relatively low price tag and his ability to provide something the current midfield lacks, the Paraguayan could become a name to watch closely in Turin.
