A fiery episode of “Aperimercato”, the new YouTube segment by Tuttosport featuring all the latest transfer market updates, has taken place.
There was space for Torino (with Ignazio Abate’s presentation today), but the episode was mainly focused on the Bianconeri, discussing the latest developments in Juventus’ transfer campaign and the strategies of the management led by Giovanni Carnevali.

Joining Cristiano Corbo in the studio was Stefano Lanzo, while Andrea Locorotondo connected remotely, followed by Nicolò Schira for the usual transfer market roundup.
Start with Goalkeeper situation
Starting with the goalkeeper situation, Lanzo commented:
“Dibu? The problem is precisely Aston Villa, who want something more financially. Juventus’ philosophy is clear: fewer costs for the transfer fees of experienced players and investments mainly in young talents. With Dibu Martinez, that is the obstacle, but he remains the first name for the goalkeeping position.”
Locorotondo then analysed the situation:
“Aston Villa want to sell him. There was already that intention last year because of the interest from Manchester United and Martinez’s tears on the final day of the previous Premier League season. But then nothing happened. The situation seems to have returned, but with a different club: it is no longer United wanting him, but Juventus.
Now Aston Villa are setting their conditions regarding the price, and the club is already looking for alternatives (Suzuki was also mentioned). A goalkeeper who earns points, like Martinez, has a certain value. Age matters, although the World Cup also showed that there are 35-year-old players who can still save games.
But seeing the former world’s number one leave for €5-6 million… I understand their position. I think Juventus need to raise their offer slightly.”

Juventus transfers blocked by departures, Kolo Muani remains the priority
With the squad’s training camp just two days away and only one new signing completed, Lanzo explained what is needed to unlock Juventus’ transfer market:
“The key to unlocking Juventus’ market can only be the departures, but saying it is easier than doing it. Carnevali arrived around one month ago, and at least something is starting to move, but it is not simple.
When you have to sell players with high salaries who are coming off disappointing seasons, everything becomes complicated. You have to start with exits and then continue with incoming transfers.
Even though I would not underestimate the Ekathor operation: philosophically, it represents what a big club should do. Then I agree with the fans that major signings are needed. For those, we have to wait — hopefully not too long.
I believe Spalletti also hopes he will not have to wait too long. Kolo Muani? If PSG opens talks with other clubs, the situation becomes more complicated, although from his side the player has always been clear: Juventus is the priority, where he experienced the most important six months of recent years. At Juventus, he found the consistency that he lacked at PSG and Tottenham.”
Regarding the possibility of Kolo Muani returning to Tottenham, Locorotondo added:

“At Tottenham he was a lesser Kolo. I saw him in some matches and also live against Aston Villa. He gave everything for Spurs’ survival battle. In over an hour against Villa, I saw a Kolo Muani who was motivated, also hoping to earn a World Cup call-up that eventually did not arrive.
A return is possible because he knows the environment, but Juventus remain his priority. Tottenham will make an attempt, but in the end the player’s desire will also matter. If Kolo Muani knows Juventus are there, he will always prefer them over Tottenham.”
On the attack, Lanzo continued:
“Fans are divided because they want a striker who scores many goals. Kolo had a very good scoring average with Juventus: it is possible that in the right conditions he could become that type of striker. Spalletti likes him for many reasons, especially his technical and physical qualities.
It is obvious that his preference is Kolo Muani, but Juventus have been chasing him for a year now: it has become an incredible transfer saga. If they move towards another target, it would need to have similar characteristics.

Pellegrino and Mateta?
Pellegrino as an alternative? I think he is an interesting player and could have a breakthrough, but I do not think he is the striker Juventus can rely on as a starter in a season where they must fight for the top positions in Serie A and compete in the Europa League.”
On Jean-Philippe Mateta, Locorotondo said:
“He has been tempted by Italian interest and knows he has a market. If I compare him with Pellegrino, I would choose Mateta. What does Juventus want to do: plan for the future or win immediately? Mateta is the player who can give you the possibility of winning a trophy, perhaps the Europa League, considering he won the Conference League with Crystal Palace.
He knows how to win matches, and this connects to Martinez: why sign him? To win immediately. If instead you want to build for the future, you do not sign Martinez.”
Locorotondo also discussed Mateta’s physical condition:

“I do not think he can guarantee an entire season. He can give you 30 matches if everything goes well. His knee is not always perfect, but you have the certainty that he can give you 25 matches and perform well.
He is not the Higuain Juventus had, but he is a striker who can make you win games. Then, if you generate funds, you could sign both him and Pellegrino, or we will see what happens with Vlahovic.
He would also arrive in Serie A from the Premier League, looking at the example of Malen with Roma.”
Palhinha and Matic to Juventus
Moving to midfield, the name of João Palhinha was discussed:

“Available from Bayern? An experienced international profile, a player who, in Spalletti’s ideas — although I do not know exactly what he thinks — could be interesting. He is ready-made. His career speaks for itself.”
Locorotondo added:
“Palhinha is not a ‘maybe’, he is a certainty. He impressed me a lot, especially considering the situation Tottenham were in. If you trust Palhinha and play him in his role, with two midfielders in a 4-2-3-1 system, he can make the difference.
He remains one of those midfielders with quality on the ball who also knows how to do the dirty work. He has eyes behind his head.”
Among the experienced midfielders linked with Juventus, Nemanja Matic was also mentioned. Lanzo commented:

“He is certainly a player with great charisma and personality. He is very experienced, perhaps too much for some, but Juventus will also need players like this.
Obviously, you cannot rely only on older players, but some experience is necessary. Many experienced names have emerged, even slightly younger ones, such as Goretzka and Kessie.”
Lanzo also spoke about Juventus’ untouchable players:
“Some players are not in question. We have always talked about Yildiz, but McKennie is more or less at the same level: extremely important for Spalletti’s style of play, capable of covering many roles, reliable, and he has just renewed his contract with important terms.
Juventus are also counting heavily on Conceicao. A big offer that cannot be refused would be needed, but at the moment we have no information that such an offer has arrived.”

What about Juventus defense?!
On Kelly’s situation, Locorotondo explained:
“He is liked in the Premier League and it would be a return home. There has been some interest, perhaps Everton remain a possibility. But once again, we are talking about interest, nothing concrete.
Kelly must understand what he can expect from this Juventus, what he can give Juventus and what Juventus can give him. The defender wants to return to the national team picture.”
Regarding a possible sale of Bremer, Lanzo said:

“The possibility of selling the Brazilian to unlock the market? The club will not lower the price of his release clause, which is high at €58 million.
Not everyone has that financial availability, and those who do may not be particularly interested in Bremer. He has always expressed his desire to remain in Turin. Of course, he is ambitious and wants to win, but Juventus also want to win.”
The episode concluded with Nicolò Schira’s transfer update, with the journalist revealing:
“Kolo Muani? Juventus have reached €38 million. We will see if they can reach €40 million. The problem with PSG is the sale of Gonçalo Ramos to Milan. If you sell the Portuguese for €73 million, you cannot sell Kolo Muani for half that amount.
They are asking for €50-55 million, money Juventus will never pay.

Regarding Juventus, Lucumí is liked, but Nottingham’s agents have also been spotted in Italy, as the English club are following him.”
On Dibu Martinez, Schira added:
“We will talk about it next week. Right now, he is focused on the World Cup, but Juventus are pushing strongly. Spalletti wants him very much, and I believe he is the only name the coach considers capable of upgrading the goalkeeper position.”
