Juventus open talks for Wolfsburg’ left-back

Kamil Grabara has become a new Juventus player. The deal is being structured as a loan with an option to buy, with Grabara arriving to take on the role of deputy to Guglielmo Vicario.

However, contacts between Juventus and Wolfsburg have also opened the door to another potential operation.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bianconeri have requested information about Joakim Maehle, identifying the Danish full-back as a possible solution for the left side of Luciano Spalletti’s squad.

Juventus Consider Maehle for the Left Wing

Spalletti needs another player capable of giving Andrea Cambiaso a break, particularly with Juan Cabal not appearing to be fully involved in the club’s plans.

The Colombian could therefore leave Turin during the final days of the transfer window, making another addition on the left flank increasingly important.

Maehle immediately stands out for his versatility. The 29-year-old has already played in Serie A with Atalanta, meaning he knows the demands and characteristics of Italian football.

He can operate on either flank and is comfortable both in a traditional four-man defence and in a system that requires wing-backs to push forward.

That tactical flexibility is one of the qualities Juventus particularly appreciate. Maehle’s contract situation could also make a potential deal financially attractive.

With the Danish defender approaching the final stage of his current agreement with Wolfsburg, Juventus could explore a relatively low-cost solution.

Two formulas could be considered. The Bianconeri could attempt to negotiate a permanent transfer on favourable terms, or they could look at a loan deal combined with a short-term contract extension between Maehle and Wolfsburg.

The latter option could benefit both clubs. Wolfsburg would avoid losing the player for nothing, while Juventus would have the opportunity to postpone a definitive investment until a later stage.

For now, however, Maehle remains only an option being evaluated. The situation involving Grabara is already defined, while there is currently no agreement between Juventus and Maehle. The coming days could reveal whether the initial enquiry develops into a concrete negotiation.
