Ronald Araujo, the Uruguayan center-back has returned after a long injury, but it seems he could end up leaving.

The Italian team has turned its attention to Ronald Araujo, center-back of FC Barcelona, as their main target. The Juventus is in urgent search of a reliable center-back following the recent absences in their defensive line. With Bremer and Cabal out due to injuries and Danilo’s departure confirmed.

As reported by ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport‘, Juventus is willing to make an offer. That includes an initial loan with a mandatory purchase option.

This formula would allow the Bianconeri club to cover the player’s full salary. As well as establish a reasonable market price for the definitive purchase. Araujo, currently valued at around €55 million, could be a key piece in the plans of Cristiano Giuntoli.

Araujo to be sold to the higher bider?

Barcelona, however, does not view this short-term proposal favorably. Although their stance could change if the Uruguayan does not extend his contract, which expires in June 2026.

In fact, the Blaugrana board does not contemplate letting the player go without a significant financial benefit. Especially considering the interest from other top clubs like Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

The scenario at Camp Nou adds more uncertainty. Araujo, who has always expressed his desire to stay at Barça, faces tough competition for a starting position under Flick. Who has chosen the partnership of Íñigo Martínez – Cubarsí in defense. Additionally, the Catalan club plans to bring in Jonathan Tah next summer as free transfer from Leverkusen.

Juventus appears willing to accelerate talks in the coming days. Aware that they could find in Araujo the leader they need to strengthen their weakened defensive line. The future of the Uruguayan promises to be one of the main focuses of the winter market.
