Juventus legend David Trezeguet talks in a exclusive interview about the past, the present and the future of the Bianconeri.

Trezeguet to Fan Page with juventinità bursting from every pore started :

What memories do you have of the Agnelli family, from Gianni to Umberto?

“I got to know several members of the Agnelli family. With Gianni he invited me for a coffee at his place and in a few words he immediately made me understand the Juve world. You always need to win, as a tradition as well to a winning family like theirs”.

They speak about a Juve DNA?

“Juve has immediately transmitted this to me, in those years I had the fortune to get to know many champions and to have played with 3 Ballon d’Or players: Zidane, Nedved and Cannavaro. I found myself in a locker room with 25-30 international players: this is how you understand how high the level is”.

Current Juventus and what is not working?

“Let’s start with the fact that historically Juve has always had this idea that assessments are done at the end. The truth is, according to the statistics, the real Juve has not been seen yet. It should improve in the league, it qualified in the Coppa Italia and in the Champions League it needs to get points from the last two games. Nobody cares about the injuries, players that are still adapting, their personal problems. At Juve you are in a club that winning is the only thing that matters, the juventino public is not interested in anything else”.

Did you expect something more?

“The new people are maybe not able to understand where they are or what Juve represents at a global level. They waste time to justify when instead in bianconero the only way to show something to the public is to win. The striker should score goals, as for the rest the juventino fan doesn’t care. This should be said to the players, to the club that had many important changes. Luckily from the football side, Chiellini is back, I hope that he has that important place in the club because for the rest there is a full team that is not part of football”.

Vlahovic had recently some  misunderstandings with the fans?

“At Juve you need to transmit the hunger to win, the rest doesn’t matter much otherwise they kick you out. That’s what I learned from Agnelli to Moggi, Giraudo and Bettega. Juve had found again the continuity of wins and now it is in this phase in which the public is waiting for you. You are in a club in which you can talk, but you need to win and if you didn’t understand that you should look for another one”.

Do you need someone that can transmit the Juve DNA?

“This could be done by someone like Chiellini. With all due respect, the others are businessmen or something else. If the ball doesn’t go in and you don’t like the current situation, you must go somewhere else. Those inside Juve know that”.

And on Thiago Motta? Do you think he is finding some difficulties?

“I understand Thiago, he did well, but at Juve the fan expects wins and that’s it, not wins with spectacular results. The games against small clubs at home and away matter, everything else like who plays with our without enthusiasm, nobody cares. When you take a walk in Turin, people don’t care about you, they only want the wins. Conte understood that: Juve is Juve, you need to win, period”.

The one who understood everything is Thuram, today he is the top in Italy.

“He has improved, evidently when I was telling you about the French school, the Germans went on that line with him. He went in a team in which he developed, then at Inter he also changed his mentality in a different and more competitive league, a bit more Latin, with teams that play differently. Today he increased his level and physically he became a beast. He’s able to take out defenders and in addition he became deadlier in front of goal. He could improve to much higher levels, becoming one of the most important players at a European level”.
