The future of Joao Mario could once again take a new direction this summer. After spending the current season on loan at Bologna FC 1909, the Portuguese right-back is widely expected to return to Juventus FC at the end of the campaign.

However, his stay in Turin may only be temporary, with fresh interest now emerging from another Serie A side. According to Calciomercato, ACF Fiorentina are closely monitoring Joao Mario’s situation as they prepare for potential changes in their defensive department ahead of next season.

The Florence-based club reportedly sees the Portuguese defender as a possible replacement for Dodô, who is increasingly expected to leave the club during the upcoming transfer window.

Fiorentina’s management appreciates Joao Mario’s versatility, work rate, and Serie A experience despite an inconsistent spell in recent years.

The 25-year-old has shown flashes of quality during his time in Italy, and the Viola believe he could fit well into their tactical system, especially if they are forced to reshape the squad this summer.

Juventus Open to Loan Formula

Juventus, meanwhile, appear willing to listen to offers. The Bianconeri are focused on reshaping their squad and reducing the number of players who are not part of the long-term project.

A permanent transfer for Joao Mario could prove difficult due to market conditions and the player’s recent form, which is why a loan deal with an option to buy is currently considered the most realistic solution.

Reports from Calciomercato suggest Fiorentina could soon prepare an official proposal based on that formula. Juventus may ultimately accept such terms in order to facilitate the player’s departure while keeping open the possibility of a future sale.

Transfer Talks Could Accelerate Soon

At the moment, discussions remain at an early stage, but the situation is expected to develop rapidly in the coming weeks as the summer transfer market approaches.

Much will also depend on Dodô’s future and whether Fiorentina receives satisfactory offers for the Brazilian defender.

For Joao Mario, another Serie A opportunity could represent the perfect chance to relaunch his career and finally find stability after several uncertain seasons.
