A return to Serie A for Theo Hernandez may no longer be a distant possibility. After just one season in Saudi Arabia with Al Hilal, the French full-back is already being linked with a move back to Italian football, where he previously became one of the most dominant defenders in the league during his time at AC Milan.
According to Calciomercato, the 1997-born defender remains eager to compete again at the highest European level despite enjoying a strong campaign in the Saudi Pro League under former Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi.
During his years in Milan, Theo established himself as one of the best attacking full-backs in Europe and even surpassed Paolo Maldini as the highest-scoring defender in the club’s history.

Saudi Success Keeps Europe Interested
Theo has delivered impressive numbers this season, scoring nine goals and providing five assists in 42 appearances across the Saudi Pro League, King’s Cup, and AFC Champions League Elite.
Operating both as a traditional left-back and as a wing-back, the French international has remained a key figure for Al Hilal throughout the campaign.
His performances have also kept him firmly in the plans of Didier Deschamps ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup in North America.
Calciomercato reports that several Serie A clubs have continued monitoring Theo’s situation, with Juventus frequently mentioned among the interested sides.
However, despite the rumors circulating during the winter transfer window, no concrete negotiations have ever taken place between Juventus and the player’s entourage.
Why a Return Could Become Realistic
One major factor behind Theo’s decision to remain in Saudi Arabia until at least mid-2026 was linked to tax regulations.

By spending the required number of days as a tax resident in Saudi Arabia, the Frenchman could benefit from highly favorable taxation conditions on his earnings.
That situation could now open the door for a future move back to Europe, potentially allowing clubs to structure a more manageable salary package despite Theo currently earning around €20 million net per season at Al Hilal.
Another important development involves the Saudi club’s ownership structure. The Public Investment Fund (PIF) recently reduced its involvement in Al Hilal by selling a majority stake to Kingdom Holding Company, owned by Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal.
According to the report, this financial and structural shift could facilitate the departure of several high-profile players in the near future.
For now, Juventus’ interest remains more of an internal appreciation than an active pursuit. Still, Theo Hernandez’s name is once again circulating around Serie A — and this time, a sensational return may not be impossible.
