In recent hours, speculation around Juventus’ attacking reinforcement has intensified, with Mauro Icardi’s name suddenly emerging as a possible solution.
The Argentine striker, formerly captain of Inter and currently at Galatasaray, was strongly linked to the Bianconeri by sections of the transfer market environment.

However, those rumors were quickly cooled down by transfer experts, with journalist Matteo Moretto providing crucial clarification on the matter.
Speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, Moretto addressed the situation directly, offering a clear picture of what really happened behind the scenes and denying the idea of a concrete negotiation between Juventus and Icardi.
Icardi Never a Real Target for Juventus
According to Matteo Moretto, the Icardi-to-Juventus story never truly took off. The striker was simply proposed to the club as a last-minute opportunity during the final stages of the transfer window.
Juventus, however, did not take any meaningful steps forward. No official offers were made, nor were there in-depth discussions with Galatasaray.

Moretto explained that Icardi was just one of several profiles suggested to Juventus in the closing hours of the market. The club received numerous proposals as it evaluated potential attacking reinforcements, but none of these options led to advanced negotiations.
In this context, Icardi’s name was circulated more by intermediaries than by Juventus’ own strategic planning.
Moretto also revealed that Juventus were approached with several alternative profiles, including Ermedin Demirović from the Bundesliga and Jhon Durán, who was reportedly offered to the club multiple times in recent days.
Despite repeated proposals, Juventus ultimately chose not to proceed, citing extra-football considerations as a decisive factor. Durán, in particular, is now said to be very close to a move to Zenit.
As for Icardi, any remaining speculation was definitively shut down following public comments made by Giorgio Chiellini, which further distanced Juventus from the idea of pursuing the Argentine forward.
In conclusion, as reported by Matteo Moretto, the Icardi link was never more than a theoretical option and never a concrete transfer target for the Old Lady.
