Juventus are once again eyeing a move for Ronald Araujo after nearly signing him in January. Back then, the Uruguayan centre-back had just recovered from injury and was struggling to reclaim his spot under Barcelona manager Hansi Flick.

With Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez becoming preferred options in central defence, Araujo was open to exploring other opportunities.

Juventus made a serious approach during the winter window, offering a lucrative proposal to lure him away.

However, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco intervened and successfully convinced Araujo to stay at Camp Nou. The defender even agreed to extend his contract until 2031, signaling his commitment to the Catalan club.

Ronald Araujo – last summer twist in transfer drama!

Now, as the summer transfer window opens, circumstances have changed. Barcelona are under pressure to make a significant sale due to financial constraints.

Araujo’s release clause, which temporarily drops to €60 million early in the window, has rekindled Juventus’ hopes. The Diario Sport journalist Hugo Scoccia reports that the Bianconeri have resumed talks, viewing Araujo as a critical addition to their defensive line.

Although Araujo stated during the recent international break that he is not considering leaving Barcelona, the situation remains uncertain.

The reduced release clause combined with an unclear starting role may impact his final decision. Juventus are reportedly ready to present a package that could appeal to both the player and Barcelona.

Should Araujo depart, it could have broader implications for the club. His exit would potentially free up the necessary wage space to secure a deal for Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, one of Barça’s top summer targets.

While Araujo’s loyalty to Barcelona is evident, the coming weeks may test that commitment. With top clubs circling and Barcelona needing financial flexibility, this transfer saga is far from over.
