Juventus target Dutch forward to replace Openda

The arrival of Michael Carrick on the Manchester United bench has done little to change the fortunes of Joshua Zirkzee.

The 24-year-old Dutch forward, who was already playing a secondary role under Rúben Amorim, has struggled to earn the full confidence of the current Red Devils boss.

In fact, he has not started a Premier League match since December, a clear indication that his position within the squad remains fragile.

With limited opportunities and growing competition in attack, it is hardly surprising that Zirkzee is beginning to consider a change of scenery ahead of next season. His situation has not gone unnoticed across Europe, particularly in Italy, where he previously showcased his talent with distinction.

Juventus Monitoring the Situation

According to Calciomercato, Juventus have recently emerged as the most determined suitor for the Dutch striker. The Turin-based giants are reportedly preparing for significant changes in their attacking department.

Serbian forward Dusan Vlahović and Belgian striker Loïs Openda could both depart, while uncertainty also surrounds the future of Canadian international Jonathan David.

Zirkzee’s previous spell at Bologna remains fresh in the memory of Serie A fans. During his time there, he recorded 14 goals and nine assists in 58 official appearances, demonstrating not only his finishing ability but also his creativity and link-up play.

His familiarity with Italian football makes him an appealing option for the Bianconeri as they look to reshape their frontline.

Loan Deal with Obligation to Buy?

Although the summer transfer window is still months away, Calciomercato reports that Juventus are already exploring a structured deal.

The proposed formula would involve an initial loan move with an obligation to buy, potentially reaching €30 million. This figure falls short of the more than €42 million Manchester United invested in 2024 to secure his services.

For Zirkzee, a return to Serie A could represent the perfect opportunity to reignite his career and reclaim a leading role. For Juventus, it could be a calculated gamble on a player whose talent is unquestioned—but whose current circumstances demand a fresh start.
