Juventus strongly on ‘New Yaya Touré’

Juventus continue to monitor emerging talents capable of strengthening their midfield for the coming seasons, and one of the latest names under consideration is Ilaix Moriba …

… the Celta Vigo midfielder and Guinea international, who remains one of the most intriguing profiles in European football.

According to information gathered by TuttoJuve, the Bianconeri have already collected preliminary reports on the player as they assess a potential move in line with their long-term transfer strategy.

Born in 2003, Moriba is regarded as one of the most promising products to emerge from Barcelona’s famed academy in recent years. He made his professional debut at a very young age and was immediately compared to former midfielder Yaya Touré.

The similarities extend beyond physical appearance. Moriba combines impressive athleticism with excellent box-to-box qualities, strength in duels, and above-average technical ability for a player of his stature.

These attributes make him a modern midfielder, capable of both winning possession and contributing effectively in attack.

Moriba Rebuilding His Career After Leipzig Setback

Expectations surrounding Moriba were enormous when RB Leipzig invested around €16 million to sign him in the summer of 2021.

However, his spell in Germany did not unfold as expected. Limited opportunities significantly slowed his development and temporarily cast doubt on the immense potential that had made him one of Europe’s most highly rated young midfielders.

Following his experience in the Bundesliga, Moriba rediscovered consistency during loan spells with Valencia before establishing himself at Celta Vigo.

During the 2024-25 campaign, he made 25 appearances for the Galician club, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

The 2025-26 season marked a decisive breakthrough, with Moriba registering 48 appearances across all competitions, along with two goals and four assists, becoming one of the team’s key players.

Juventus are actively searching for midfielders who combine physical presence with technical reliability, and Moriba fits that profile perfectly.

Comfortable as a box-to-box midfielder, in a three-man midfield, or in a more advanced role thanks to his ability to carry the ball forward, the Guinea international offers valuable tactical versatility.

For now, Moriba remains one of several names being monitored by the Juventus hierarchy as they plan for the future of their midfield.

However, should departures materialise in the Bianconeri’s engine room this summer, his profile could quickly rise up the club’s transfer shortlist.
