Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has clarified the situation surrounding Juventus’ reported pursuit of Morten Hjulmand, currently shining at Sporting CP.
Speaking on his official YouTube channel, Romano explained that recent rumors linking the Danish midfielder to the Bianconeri in the January transfer window are not accurate.

According to Romano, as summarized by TuttoJuve.com, Hjulmand is not on Juventus’ agenda for the winter market. Despite the ongoing discussions in Italy and abroad, the midfielder will not leave Sporting in January.

The Portuguese club has no intention of selling one of its key players midway through the season. Romano highlighted that Sporting are very satisfied with Hjulmand’s performances and are determined to keep him until at least the summer.
The player’s release clause is reportedly close to €80 million, a figure that makes any January deal virtually impossible. Sporting, having already sold Viktor Gyökeres, are unwilling to part with another major talent.
Summer could tell a different story

While January seems completely ruled out, Romano suggested that the situation could change next summer. Juventus’ admiration for Hjulmand is long-standing. The club had already shown serious interest in him during the last transfer window in July and August.
Sporting made it clear they were not open to negotiations, especially after important sales had already been completed. Romano reiterated that Juventus still appreciate Hjulmand’s qualities and consider him a potential target for the future.

The Italian side values his tactical intelligence, passing range, and defensive reliability—traits that would fit perfectly into the club’s midfield. For now, though, both Juventus and Hjulmand will stay focused on their respective seasons.
The Bianconeri continue to monitor the market but will not engage in unrealistic pursuits in January. Romano concluded that any possible move for Hjulmand will have to wait until the summer, when conditions could be more favorable for both clubs.
As of today, the message is clear: Morten Hjulmand is staying at Sporting CP, and Juventus will need patience if they wish to secure his signature in the future.
