Everton are preparing a fresh bid to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz this summer. The Brazilian is seen as a crucial part of their ongoing midfield rebuild at Goodison Park.
Luiz, 27, is open to returning to the Premier League just a year after joining Juventus from Aston Villa. He made 27 appearances in Serie A last season without scoring or assisting. Despite his struggles in Italy, Everton believe Luiz fits perfectly into their long-term plans.

The Toffees recently increased their offer from €30m (£26m) to a package worth around €35m (£30.3m), including bonuses reports Rudy Galetti.
However, Juventus prefer a fixed fee rather than performance-based incentives. The Italian giants are confident of securing a higher fee due to growing interest from other clubs, including West Ham.

West Ham have contacted Juventus to understand Luiz’s availability. However, Luiz has made Everton his priority because he believes in their sporting project. This gives the Merseyside club a strong edge despite ongoing negotiations.
Talks remain positive, and Everton are considering a loan with an obligation to buy if terms align. Luiz’s desire to return to English football could help push the deal over the line soon.

Everton’s midfiele revamp gathers pace
Everton’s midfield is in transition after Abdoulaye Doucoure’s release this summer. Carlos Alcaraz has been signed permanently following his loan from Flamengo. Idrissa Gana Gueye has also signed a contract extension to stay at Goodison Park.

The Toffees still aim to strengthen further, with Luiz identified as a key target. Their current midfield options include James Garner, Tim Iroegbunam, and Harrison Armstrong, who spent part of last season on loan at Derby County.
Douglas Luiz is not the only player attracting attention from Everton and West Ham. Both clubs are monitoring Manchester City’s Jack Grealish, although financial demands remain a significant hurdle.
Everton continue to lead the chase for Luiz, but further negotiations are needed to finalise the agreement.
