Chelsea offer cash + a player for Cambiaso

Juventus are evaluating an intriguing transfer formula that could see Nicolas Jackson move to Turin as part of a deal involving Andrea Cambiaso’s potential switch to Chelsea.

According to journalist Giovanni Albanese, discussions between the two clubs remain at an exploratory stage, with no formal negotiations currently underway.

However, both sides are assessing a framework that would include a cash payment plus Jackson, or alternatively a loan move for the Senegal international as part of the overall agreement.

Chelsea Lead Race for Cambiaso

Chelsea have tracked Cambiaso for several months and are now considered the frontrunners to secure the Italian international’s signature.

The Premier League side highly value the 25-year-old’s versatility, with new head coach Xabi Alonso reportedly viewing him as an ideal option capable of operating both as a full-back and wing-back.

Juventus, however, are in a strong negotiating position. Cambiaso remains under contract until 2027, and the Bianconeri are not prepared to entertain offers below their valuation.

Chelsea’s initial proposal, believed to be in the region of €27-28 million, has been viewed merely as an opening bid, especially after Manchester City and Liverpool were linked with figures closer to €40-45 million earlier this year.

Barcelona have also monitored the situation and were reportedly considering a player-plus-cash formula involving Ronald Araújo, although Chelsea currently appear to hold the strongest position.

Jackson Emerges as Potential Counterpart

Jackson, born in 2001, recently returned to Chelsea following a paid loan spell at Bayern Munich worth around €15 million.

Reports in Italy suggest the striker is no longer central to Chelsea’s plans under Alonso, making his inclusion in a potential swap operation a logical solution for all parties.

For Chelsea, the move would help reduce wage costs while narrowing the valuation gap for Cambiaso. Juventus, meanwhile, would gain the opportunity to assess a physically imposing striker who fits the profile they are targeting ahead of the 2026-27 season.

With Giovanni Carnevali now leading the club as CEO, Juventus’ transfer strategy is beginning to take shape.

Chelsea are expected to return with an improved offer, but the possibility of renewed interest from Liverpool or Manchester City could still reshape the negotiations in the coming weeks.
