Interest in Andrea Cambiaso continues to grow across Europe despite a dip in form over the last 18 months.
After strong links with Manchester City in the past, Barcelona and Chelsea have now emerged as the latest clubs monitoring the Juventus full-back’s situation.

Although the 26-year-old has remained a key figure under Luciano Spalletti, as well as during the final months of Thiago Motta’s tenure and Igor Tudor’s interim spell, his performances have often fluctuated between moments of brilliance and costly mistakes.
Cambiaso has showcased his versatility, intelligent movement into half-spaces and attacking unpredictability, but concerns remain over lapses in concentration and inconsistencies in possession.
The numbers tell a mixed story. Under Spalletti, the Italian international started 35 of Juventus’ 37 matches, scoring three goals and providing four assists.
However, his average Serie A rating of 5.83, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, highlights a season that has fallen short of expectations.
Despite his uneven form, Spalletti continues to view Cambiaso as one of his most trusted players. However, Juventus CEO Giovanni Carnevali is reportedly open to considering offers as the club seeks to generate capital gains and balance its finances.
Why Barcelona and Chelsea Are Interested
There are several reasons why Europe’s top clubs remain attracted to Cambiaso. At 26, he is entering the prime years of his career and offers rare tactical flexibility, being capable of playing effectively on either flank.

Spalletti famously described him as a “3D player” — someone able to interpret space not only vertically and horizontally, but also in a more complete, all-round way.
These qualities are particularly valuable to teams that favour an aggressive, possession-based style of football.
Barcelona are currently short of depth in the full-back positions. On the right, Hansi Flick can rely on Jules Koundé and João Cancelo, while Alejandro Baldé remains the primary option on the left.
Cambiaso’s versatility and technical quality could represent a significant upgrade for the Catalan side. According to reports, Barcelona have explored the possibility of including Ronald Araújo in negotiations with Juventus.
The Uruguayan defender, who is under contract until 2031, was already a target for the Bianconeri in January 2025 before the club ultimately signed Lloyd Kelly.
Juventus Prefer a Cash Deal
Despite Barcelona’s interest, Juventus would reportedly prefer a straight cash offer. With the club under pressure to improve its financial position, Carnevali is prioritising deals that can generate immediate revenue rather than player exchanges.

That scenario could favour Chelsea, who are in the market for a new left-sided defender following Marc Cucurella’s reported €60 million move to Real Madrid.
The London club’s admiration for Cambiaso is also linked to head coach Xabi Alonso, who has long appreciated the Italian international’s profile.
Alonso’s positional style of play requires full-backs to provide width while also drifting into central areas to help dictate possession — a role similar to the one Thiago Motta attempted to implement at Juventus.
It was under Motta that Cambiaso produced some of his most impressive performances before attracting serious interest from Manchester City.
Both Barcelona and Chelsea believe that, in the right tactical environment, the Juventus defender can quickly rediscover the form that made him one of Europe’s most sought-after full-backs.
