Koopmeiners could leave Juventus! Bianconeri set his price

Forza Juventus

According to Il Bianconero, Teun Koopmeiners received a late call-up from Dutch coach Ronald Koeman for the recent international break. The Juventus midfielder was summoned only because of an injury in the Netherlands squad — but the trip proved pointless.

Koeman never used him, leaving Koopmeiners on the bench for both matches. This decision clearly showed his low position in the national team hierarchy. For the former Atalanta player, it was another frustrating moment in what has become a difficult period.

The midfielder now returns to Turin with no boost in confidence and no progress made. At Juventus, many at Continassa still hope for a turning point in his form. Yet, if improvement does not come soon, the club may have to think seriously about his future.

Koopmeiners has not played for the Netherlands since March, over six months ago. His performances in Turin have heavily influenced his standing in the national setup. Even when called, he struggles to become a real option for Koeman.

The word “revival” has followed Koopmeiners for months, but it remains only a wish. Despite that, Juventus still seems patient — at least for now.

Summer could be the decisive moment for Teun Koopmeiners

Head coach Igor Tudor will still rely on Koopmeiners. With limited midfield options, the Croatian coach has little choice but to keep trusting him. Tudor also appears genuinely eager to help the Dutchman rediscover his best form.

A January exit looks unlikely, meaning Koopmeiners has a few more months to prove himself in black and white. But with every passing week, that challenge becomes harder.

Looking further ahead, the summer could bring major changes. Among the high-profile signings of summer 2024, Koopmeiners is the only one still at Juventus after the exits of Douglas Luiz and Nico González.

The club wanted to give him another chance, partly because of his high transfer fee and also because his performances had been so different from those at Atalanta.

However, if he fails to improve by the end of the season, Juventus might finally consider selling him. Il Bianconero notes that around €35 million would be needed to avoid a loss on the books — a difficult figure to achieve if his struggles continue.

For now, Koopmeiners’ story in Turin remains open, but time is clearly running out for a long-awaited breakthrough.
