Juventus continue to work actively in the transfer market as they look to strengthen their defensive department ahead of the new season.

Among the names attracting strong interest from the Bianconeri hierarchy is Jhon Lucumí, the Colombian centre-back who has established himself as one of Serie A’s most reliable defenders during his time at Bologna.

According to reports from Sky Sport, Juventus have already opened contacts with Bologna to explore a potential deal for Lucumí.

The 26-year-old defender is protected by a €28 million release clause, which can be activated until mid-July, making the coming weeks crucial for any negotiations.

Juventus Evaluating Lucumí Deal Structure

One of the key aspects of the operation revolves around the financial conditions of the transfer. Juventus are reportedly assessing the most suitable payment structure and whether the overall investment aligns with the club’s internal valuation of the player.

Before deciding whether to trigger the release clause, the Turin giants could attempt direct negotiations with Bologna in an effort to secure more favorable terms or potentially reduce the final fee.

Lucumí remains a highly valued target thanks to his defensive consistency, Serie A experience, and ability to adapt to different tactical systems.

Bremer Clause Adds Another Layer to Juventus Plans

At the same time, Juventus are closely monitoring the future of Gleison Bremer. The Brazilian defender remains one of the pillars of the club’s backline, but his contractual situation continues to attract attention.

Bremer has a €58 million release clause that remains valid until August. While no concrete approaches from other clubs have emerged so far, the significant figure could still appeal to top European sides seeking an elite defender during the summer window.

For this reason, Juventus’ interest in Lucumí may also be viewed as a precautionary move. Securing a high-level replacement in advance would allow the club to react quickly should substantial offers arrive for Bremer later in the transfer market.

As things stand, Lucumí remains one of the most closely monitored defensive targets on Juventus’ shortlist, with Sky Sport reporting that discussions between the Bianconeri and Bologna are already underway.
