Juventus accelerate, increase the bid for Alajbegović

According to BILD, Juventus have increased their offer for Kerim Alajbegović, re-entering the race to sign the highly rated Bayer Leverkusen youngster.

The Italian club had long been unwilling to exceed a package worth €30 million plus bonuses, but that stance changed over the weekend.

As a result, Juventus are now back in contention for the Bosnia international, who recently featured at the World Cup.

Juventus’ biggest advantage is their sporting project. The Bianconeri have made it clear to Alajbegović during personal talks that they see him as part of their starting XI for next season.

The 18-year-old, who spent last season on loan at RB Salzburg, has been assured he would have an important role in Turin.

Chelsea and Napoli remain on the race

Chelsea, meanwhile, have a different vision for the teenager. Under manager Xabi Alonso, Alajbegović is viewed as a major long-term project rather than an immediate starter.

Discussions have even included the possibility of sending him on loan for a season to another top club competing in European competitions.

The Blues have also just completed the signing of Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa for €127 million, with the English midfielder occupying a similar attacking midfield role.

Reports from Italy also suggest that Napoli are preparing to improve their proposal. However, the current pecking order in the race is clear: Chelsea remain the favorites, with Juventus in second place.

One thing appears certain: Alajbegović wants to leave Bayer Leverkusen. Although he signed a contract extension until 2031 earlier this year, the deal does not include a release clause.

The young midfielder reportedly feels that Leverkusen’s new 4-3-3 system, which relies heavily on pacey wide players, is not the best fit for his technical style of play.

Despite not yet making a senior appearance for Leverkusen, Alajbegović is expected to wait until the German club reaches an agreement with one of the interested teams before holding final talks and making his decision.

A transfer is expected to be completed soon. For now, the teenager will report back to Leverkusen following his World Cup break.

Sporting director Simon Rolfes confirmed to BILD: “He will be with the World Cup players when they return on Monday.” However, all indications suggest his stay could be a very short one before sealing his next move.
