Juventus is actively searching for new talent to strengthen its squad under Croatian coach Igor Tudor. The team recently traveled to Herzogenaurach, Germany, where it will carry out the second phase of preseason training at Adidas’ headquarters.

However, the squad is not yet complete. The focus is now on acquiring a strong, versatile midfielder to fill a key role. One name that matches Juventus’ ideal profile is Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand, currently playing for Sporting CP in Portugal.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Hjulmand has already given a green light to the move. The 25-year-old previously played in Serie A with Lecce and is now open to returning to Italy, this time wearing the iconic black and white of Juventus.

Hjulmand is ready to join the Turin-based club. He has fully accepted the idea of moving, drawn by the opportunity to compete in a more prestigious league and receive a significantly higher salary.

Juventus is also offering him a long-term contract, valid until 2030, showing serious commitment to the player. The deal would mark a return to familiar territory for Hjulmand, who left a good impression during his time at Lecce.

All personal terms between Juventus and the player seem settled. However, the real hurdle lies in Lisbon, where Sporting is not keen on letting their midfield anchor go.

Having recently sold striker Viktor Gyökeres to Arsenal, Sporting is reluctant to lose another key figure in the same transfer window.

They’ve made it clear that Hjulmand’s release clause stands at €60 million, a figure far beyond what Juventus is willing—or able—to pay. This isn’t just a problem for the Italian giants; other interested clubs have also balked at that price.

Hjulmand’s camp remains optimistic. They believe a transfer is still possible and are working to persuade Sporting to accept a lower fee. The proposed amount would be closer to €40 million, possibly with performance-based bonuses included to sweeten the deal.

In an attempt to reduce the cost, Juventus previously explored the idea of including players in the deal. Names such as Arthur and Douglas Luiz were reportedly offered to Sporting as part of a potential swap. However, the Portuguese club showed no interest in either option.

Sporting’s position remains firm. They want top dollar for Hjulmand and are in no rush to sell. Juventus, meanwhile, is continuing to work behind the scenes to find a breakthrough.

The club knows it will take more than just a creative offer to close the deal. Persistence and strategic negotiation may be key in landing their midfield target.

For now, Juventus fans must remain patient. Hjulmand is willing, the club is eager—but Sporting holds the final card.
