Fabrizio Romano gives update on Gatti – AC Milan

Forza Juventus

Fabrizio Romano has addressed the recent rumors linking AC Milan with a potential move for Federico Gatti, providing clarity during a discussion on his YouTube channel. The speculation, which gained traction around Christmas, suggested a possible swap deal involving Gatti and Samuele Ricci.

However, according to Romano, the situation is far less advanced than some reports have claimed.
Romano explained that in the days between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, he and his team received numerous questions about alleged talks between Milan and Juventus for a Ricci–Gatti exchange.

These rumors spread quickly, but from the information available, there is no concrete negotiation in place between the two clubs.

As Romano clarified, there have been no formal discussions aimed at building a swap deal, nor has an official operation been initiated between Milan and Juventus.

No Swap Deal on the Table

One key point emphasized by Fabrizio Romano is that Massimiliano Allegri has already publicly addressed the situation.

Ahead of Milan’s match against Verona, Allegri made it clear that Samuele Ricci is considered an important part of Milan’s technical project. The coach has no intention of letting Ricci leave, which effectively rules out any realistic possibility of a Ricci-for-Gatti swap at this stage.

Romano reiterated that, beyond some direct contact between Allegri and Gatti, there is nothing resembling a structured negotiation.

The relationship between Allegri and the Juventus defender is described as very strong, built on mutual respect and trust developed over time. This explains why Gatti’s name often comes up when Allegri is discussed, but appreciation alone does not translate into an imminent transfer.

According to Romano, Allegri’s admiration for Federico Gatti is not a recent development. It is a well-known and long-standing feeling, and it should not be interpreted as a sign that Milan are close to making a move.

At this moment, Milan are taking their time to evaluate which direction to pursue in the market, especially in defense.

The situation remains fluid, and while Gatti is a player Allegri genuinely likes, there is a significant gap between interest and action. As Fabrizio Romano underlined, it is still too early to predict whether Milan will decide to explore this path further or focus on alternative targets.

For now, the rumors of a swap deal can be set aside, with patience required to understand Milan’s true strategy in the coming weeks.
