Romano: “Juventus will not sign …”

Fabrizio Romano has clarified the situation surrounding Mauro Icardi and Juventus, putting an end to growing speculation about a possible summer move.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian transfer expert explained that despite Icardi’s contract with Galatasaray expiring in the coming months, Juventus are not planning to reopen discussions for the Argentine striker.

According to Romano, the key detail often misunderstood is the direction of the proposal. Icardi was offered to Juventus, not the other way around. This distinction is crucial, as it highlights that the Bianconeri never actively pursued the player.

Juventus, in fact, have consistently maintained this version internally, and Romano confirmed that there have been no concrete steps taken to explore the deal further.

A Brief Consideration, Then Nothing More for Mauro Icardi

Romano described the Icardi situation as a short-lived idea rather than a genuine transfer target. The proposal emerged toward the end of January and was evaluated briefly by Juventus, but it never developed into negotiations.

No offers were made, no talks were initiated, and no structured plan followed. Even though there was some early enthusiasm from the player’s side, Juventus chose not to move forward.

Romano noted that Giorgio Chiellini’s description of the situation was spot on: Juventus may have considered the idea for a few hours, but that was the extent of it. Once the initial evaluation ended, the club shifted its focus elsewhere.

As things stand, Icardi is not considered a priority for Juventus, even as a potential free transfer. The club has other plans for the summer transfer window and is working along different strategic lines.

Romano emphasized that there are currently no concrete contacts, no ongoing discussions, and no operational activity related to Icardi.

In short, despite recurring rumors and fan curiosity, a Juventus move for Mauro Icardi appears highly unlikely. What once seemed like a possible opportunity has remained nothing more than a passing suggestion, with the club firmly looking in other directions for the future.
