PSG helps Juventus for Suzuki

The goalkeeper situation at Juventus has become one of the most complicated issues of the summer transfer window.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Bianconeri are still working to find the right solution, but the final decision may require a few more days as several factors need to align.

One of the most intriguing possibilities involves Zion Suzuki, the Japanese goalkeeper currently targeted by Paris Saint-Germain. The French club has opened talks with Parma over a permanent transfer, with Suzuki’s valuation set at around €30 million.

However, after making significant investments in attack, Juventus are unable to match that figure and have therefore explored a more affordable alternative: a possible loan deal.

The idea could become realistic if PSG fail to complete the sale of Lucas Chevalier and find themselves with too many high-level goalkeepers in their squad.

Juventus could take advantage of Suzuki’s desire to play regularly as a starter, offering him exactly that opportunity in Turin.

Suzuki’s performances at the World Cup with Japan impressed several European clubs, including PSG, but the French side could face the problem of having an overcrowded goalkeeping department.

This is where Juventus hope to find an opening. The two clubs have already discussed the possibility during negotiations surrounding Randal Kolo Muani’s transfer.

The dialogue between Juventus and PSG has improved significantly after a difficult relationship last year, with CEO Giovanni Carnevali playing an important role in rebuilding communication between the two sides.

Now, together with sporting director Frederic Massara, Juventus are evaluating whether a loan move for Suzuki could be the ideal solution.

Vicario Remains Juventus’ Safety Net as Perin’s Future Is Also Decided

A move to Turin would guarantee Suzuki the starting role and allow him to work with Luciano Spalletti, who has publicly expressed his appreciation for the goalkeeper’s qualities.

A loan operation for an important goalkeeper would not be unprecedented either: Roma previously followed a similar path with Wojciech Szczęsny during Spalletti’s time as coach.

However, Juventus already have another option ready: Guglielmo Vicario. The Tottenham goalkeeper remains a strong alternative and has reportedly been considered through a loan deal with a purchase option worth around €15 million.

The Italian international, who joined Tottenham from Empoli in June 2023, is no longer considered central to the plans of the Premier League club and coach Roberto De Zerbi.

Vicario also missed Tottenham’s pre-season tour while recovering from an ankle injury and is waiting for clarity regarding his future.

His priority remains a return to Serie A, where he hopes to become the starting goalkeeper of a top Italian club next season. Napoli previously attempted to include a swap deal involving Vanja Milinković-Savić, but Tottenham rejected the proposal.

Time is becoming a crucial factor for Juventus, with the new season approaching quickly. The club’s objective is to provide Spalletti with his new first-choice goalkeeper as soon as possible.

At the same time, Juventus are working on finding a new destination for Michele Di Gregorio, who has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.

The future of Mattia Perin is also connected to these developments. A meeting between his agent and the club is expected soon to discuss the next steps.

Spalletti considers Perin, who joined Juventus from Genoa in 2018, an important dressing-room leader. Therefore, if the veteran goalkeeper remains in Turin, a contract renewal could also become a possibility.
