Greenwood to Juventus on swap deal

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are actively re-evaluating their attacking wing department ahead of next season.

The club is monitoring several situations: while there is growing interest from Premier League sides in Francisco Conceição, and Edon Zhegrova has delivered a disappointing campaign without goals or assists, the Bianconeri are considering a broader reshaping of their wide attacking options.

One name that continues to feature prominently on Juventus’ radar is Mason Greenwood. The English forward has been on the club’s shortlist for more than three years, with initial links dating back to March 2023.

In the summer of 2024, then sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli reportedly held advanced talks with Manchester United, only for Olympique de Marseille to move faster due to Juventus’ difficulties in offloading Federico Chiesa at the time.

Greenwood Revival at Marseille and Juventus’ Opportunity

Since joining Marseille, Greenwood has experienced a major resurgence. Despite the off-field controversy that surrounded him in the past—allegations that were later dropped and followed by reconciliation with his partner Harriet Robson and the birth of two children—the English winger has become a decisive figure on the pitch.

He has scored 47 goals and provided 16 assists, playing a key role in Marseille’s strong performances under Roberto De Zerbi. This season, Marseille remain in the fight for European qualification.

With three matches left, they sit sixth in Ligue 1 on 53 points, just four behind Lyon and Lille, who occupy the Champions League qualification places.

Securing a top-four finish is considered crucial for the French club’s finances; failure to do so could force significant player sales.

Juventus are reportedly watching this situation closely, hoping that financial pressure in Marseille could open the door for negotiations. Greenwood is valued at around €50 million, partly due to a sell-on clause owed to Manchester United.

However, Juventus could benefit from strong relations with Marseille following the transfer of Timothy Weah last summer. One possible negotiating strategy could even include Edon Zhegrova, a player previously targeted by the French club.
