Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti is aiming to strengthen his midfield during the January transfer window. He is seeking a player who can bring both quality and experience to the squad. The goal is to mount a serious challenge for the Serie A title.

According to Corriere della Sera, the Juventus management is currently considering three potential targets. Among them, the top choice appears to be Pierre Hojbjerg.

The 1995-born Danish midfielder currently plays for Marseille and is a regular for his national team. However, securing him could prove difficult. Marseille, under Roberto De Zerbi, is actively contesting Ligue 1 against PSG and may be unwilling to sell mid-season.

Alternative Pierre Hojbjerg options: Experience Versus Risk

If Hojbjerg proves unattainable, Juventus could turn to Marcelo Brozovic or Marco Verratti. Both players have significant experience in top-flight football. Brozovic has been a key figure at Inter Milan, while Verratti has long been a midfield mainstay at Paris Saint-Germain.

Yet, there are considerations regarding their current form and league competitiveness. Both Brozovic and Verratti play in leagues that are arguably less demanding than Serie A.

Juventus management may see this as a potential risk. Bringing in an older midfielder who hasn’t faced consistently high-level pressure could impact the team’s performance.

Spalletti’s preference is clear: the coach wants a dynamic, battle-tested midfielder capable of dictating play and controlling games.

Finding the right fit will be crucial for Juventus as they aim to close the gap with league leaders. The January window may provide a pivotal opportunity to reinforce the squad.
