Carnevali Revolution: 5 Italian players on short list

Successful teams have often been built around a strong Italian backbone, with domestic talent forming the foundation for wor

ld-class foreign stars. That philosophy appears set to return at Juventus under Giovanni Carnevali, who is determined to bring the winning formula that served him so well at Sassuolo to Turin.

In recent years, Juventus frequently fielded lineups with only two or three Italian players, a trend Carnevali is keen to reverse.

The new sporting director wants to strengthen the club’s connection to Italian football by targeting some of the country’s most promising talents.

Frattesi Leads the List as Juventus Explore Multiple Targets

According to reports from Italian journalist Nicolò Schira, Juventus are closely monitoring several Italian players who fit Carnevali’s vision.

Among them is highly-rated attacking midfielder Mattia Liberali. The 2007-born talent is attracting interest from several Serie A clubs, but Juventus have already made exploratory contacts with his agent Alessandro Lucci.

His €6 million release clause makes him an appealing opportunity for the Bianconeri.

Juventus scouts also continue to follow full-backs Michael Kayode and Matteo Ruggeri, while the arrival of Carnevali could accelerate interest in both players.

However, the primary focus remains Davide Frattesi. Luciano Spalletti was already eager to sign the midfielder in January, and after a difficult period with limited playing time, the Italian international could now be ready for a fresh challenge.

His valuation is reportedly around €25 million, though Juventus may look to negotiate a more favourable structure.

The club could soon have room in midfield, with both Vasilije Adžić and Teun Koopmeiners potentially heading for the exit.

Carnevali knows Frattesi well, having signed him from Roma during his Sassuolo days, and remains a strong admirer of the player.

Good relations between Carnevali and Inter executive Giuseppe Marotta could help facilitate discussions, potentially through a loan deal with an obligation to buy or a player-exchange formula.

Another name to watch is Domenico Berardi. The Sassuolo captain, long admired by Juventus and one of Carnevali’s favourite players, could once again emerge as a transfer target.

With his valuation now considerably lower than in previous years, a long-awaited move to Turin may finally become a realistic possibility.
