The future of Mike Maignan has become one of the hottest discussions of the 2025 European transfer window. The French goalkeeper, a pillar of AC Milan since 2021, now finds himself at the centre of a growing tug of war involving Bayern Munich, Chelsea and, at a distance, Juventus.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, interest in the Milan goalkeeper is rising fast as his contract situation becomes more fragile. Maignan arrived at Milan from Lille and quickly rose to elite status.

He became a decisive figure, a leader on and off the pitch, and a symbol of stability for the Rossoneri. However, his contract is running out, and renewal talks have stalled. Milan fear losing him on a free deal, as he will be able to negotiate with other clubs from January.

This scenario turns Maignan into one of the most attractive opportunities on the market. Clubs searching for a world-class goalkeeper now see a rare opening to secure a proven and influential presence.

Bayern Munich are already preparing for life after Manuel Neuer. The German legend is approaching the final stretch of his career, and La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Maignan is viewed as the ideal successor.

He offers leadership, experience, and modern goalkeeping qualities. His reactions are sharp, his command of the box is strong, and he is excellent with the ball at his feet. For Bayern, signing him would mean securing their goal for many years ahead.

Also Chelsea is pushing

Chelsea are also in the race and are pushing with increasing urgency. The Premier League club have struggled to find consistent performances from their current goalkeepers. This inconsistency has turned Maignan into their top priority.

The Blues followed him before, but his current contract situation makes the move even more appealing. Chelsea want to move quickly and beat Bayern to an agreement. They see Maignan as a long-term foundation piece for their project.

Juventus remain on the background. The Italian club admire Maignan, yet Michele Di Gregorio is performing well and appears secure in his role.

Still, the Bianconeri are watching developments closely, aware that a player of Maignan’s calibre rarely becomes available. The race is open, and the coming months will decide the next chapter of one of Europe’s most coveted goalkeepers.
