Juventus may be preparing a fascinating late-market move. According to TuttoSport, Edon Zhegrova of Lille has emerged as a serious target, and the potential reunion with former teammate Jonathan David could be decisive.

The bond between the two attackers, developed during their time together in Ligue 1, might soon find its way to Turin. The chemistry between David and Zhegrova is not just an abstract concept; it has been displayed on the biggest stages.

Juventus themselves witnessed it last November in the Champions League. That night, Zhegrova danced past Thuram, dismantled Juve’s midfield line, and slipped a perfect vertical pass to David. The Canadian striker, reading the play with perfect timing, outpaced Cabal and calmly slotted past goalkeeper Di Gregorio.

That move was not a one-off. Their partnership has delivered repeatedly, combining for ten goals during their shared years in France. Surprisingly, the numbers reveal an interesting balance. While many would expect Zhegrova to serve David, it was often the reverse.

Six times, Zhegrova scored from David’s assists, while four goals came with the Canadian finishing his Kosovar teammate’s service. The statistics highlight their versatility and ability to adapt to different roles.

This fluidity is precisely what makes Zhegrova attractive for Juventus. Coach Igor Tudor is seeking a profile capable of operating between the right wing and the attacking midfield line, offering dynamism and unpredictability. Zhegrova, who resembles Nico Gonzalez in tactical profile, brings creativity and finishing ability inside the final third.

Zhegrova’s admiration for Juventus has already surfaced publicly. After the club announced the arrival of Jonathan David this summer, the Kosovar winger was quick to show his support with a social media reaction.

The gesture did not go unnoticed, fueling speculation about his own desire to follow in his former teammate’s footsteps. Born in Herford, Germany, in 1999, Zhegrova joined Lille three years ago from Basel.

Since then, he has matured into a player capable of competing at the highest level. However, his contract situation adds urgency. Last spring, he openly confirmed he would not be renewing with Lille, stating: “I have communicated my decision to the club. I will not extend my contract. Let’s see what happens in the summer.”

This admission positions him as one of the most intriguing late-summer market opportunities. Olympique de Marseille have shown serious interest, but negotiations with Lille remain unresolved. Juventus, with their need for an additional wide option, may attempt to intervene decisively.

The formula that could bring him to Turin

For Juventus to make this move possible, squad adjustments are required. The main obstacle remains Nico Gonzalez, whose departure could open the door for Zhegrova’s arrival.

Reports suggest that Lille are open to a loan deal with an obligation to buy, set at around €20 million. To safeguard their position, the French club could also agree on a short-term contract extension with Zhegrova, ensuring they protect his market value while still finalizing the transfer.

This scenario would delight Tudor, who currently relies on Gonzalez in a role that doesn’t entirely suit him. Zhegrova, however, is built for that position, offering goals, assists, and one-on-one ability.

For Jonathan David, the idea of reuniting with his trusted attacking partner would also be a dream come true. What began as a story of creative interplay on the Champions League stage could now evolve into a decisive tactical advantage for Juventus. The David–Zhegrova axis, once thriving along the River Deule in Lille, might soon be reborn in Turin.
