Sporting set Hjulmand price – Douglas Luiz a key to sign him

Douglas Luiz is expected to return. He should be among the players entering the gates of Continassa this morning. His name should be on the list of those training at the Juventus Training Center today.

Still, it’s a delicate situation. Juventus is walking a tightrope, choosing caution over rash decisions. That’s why we use conditionals—because his case is complicated.

Luiz was initially expected on July 24, the first day of pre-season camp. He never showed.

After tense talks with his agents, there’s now an opening for him to return to Turin this week. Regardless of what happens next, two things are clear.

First, Juventus will fine him. His absence without explanation has led to serious disciplinary action. Second, he’s officially on the market.

Where will he go? He still has admirers in the Premier League. Many clubs remember his strong performances with Aston Villa.

His camp is targeting a top-tier English club. Juventus, for their part, want at least €40 million. Interest from Turkey exists, especially with José Mourinho pushing, but Luiz remains unconvinced.

Juventus Eyes Morten Hjulmand as Midfield Reinforcement

Should Luiz depart, Juventus will look to strengthen their midfield. Igor Tudor wants energy, not just technique—players who can cover ground.

Morten Hjulmand fits the bill. The Sporting Lisbon captain has the qualities Juventus need. He recovers balls relentlessly, passes with vision, and breaks up opposition rhythm.

He’s a modern midfielder who could disrupt current pecking orders. Tudor knows and rates him highly, having wanted him even during his Marseille days.

But signing Hjulmand won’t be easy. Sporting are tough negotiators. His release clause is €80 million, though they may sell for €70 million.

Juventus hopes to strike a deal closer to €40 million. While the clubs are far apart, there’s mutual interest between Hjulmand and Juventus reports today TuttoSport.

An agreement isn’t close yet, but it’s a start. This deal could define Juventus’ midfield for seasons to come.
