Spalletti dream Dibu, Vicario on hold and moves for Suzuki

Juventus are accelerating their search for a new first-choice goalkeeper, with Emiliano “Dibu” Martinez, Guglielmo Vicario, and Zion Suzuki emerging as the three main candidates to replace Michele Di Gregorio, who is widely expected to leave the club before the start of the new Serie A season.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Bianconeri are entering a decisive phase in their pursuit of a new goalkeeper.

CEO Giovanni Carnevali has already confirmed that signing a goalkeeper remains one of the club’s top priorities, while head coach Luciano Spalletti recently reiterated his desire to strengthen the position to increase competition within the squad.

Dibu Remains Spalletti’s Dream, but Villa Stand Firm

Martinez continues to be Spalletti’s preferred choice. The Aston Villa goalkeeper is admired for his leadership, experience, and winning mentality, qualities the Juventus coach believes would immediately strengthen the team.

However, negotiations remain extremely difficult. Juventus have proposed a deal worth around €6.5 million, structured as a loan with an option to buy, but Aston Villa are demanding approximately €12 million to sanction the departure of the Argentine World Cup winner.

Although Martinez remains hopeful that he can help facilitate the move, Juventus are becoming increasingly realistic about the challenges involved and are no longer relying solely on the possibility of completing the deal.

Vicario Leads, Suzuki Offers Long-Term Vision

With the Martinez operation becoming more complicated, Guglielmo Vicario has quietly moved to the front of Juventus’ shortlist.

The Tottenham goalkeeper was recently left out of Spurs’ pre-season tour to Australia and New Zealand. While the official explanation pointed to a minor ankle issue, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that the transfer market is the real reason behind his absence.

Tottenham are discussing a loan with an option to buy, and the Italian international—currently behind Antonin Kinsky and Martin Dubravka in the pecking order—would welcome the opportunity to join Juventus.

At the same time, Juventus have not abandoned their interest in Zion Suzuki. Spalletti is reportedly a huge admirer of the Parma goalkeeper, particularly his exceptional distribution and ability to launch attacks with long passes.

Carnevali has maintained close contact with Parma, also due to ongoing discussions involving striker Mateo Pellegrino, and is exploring whether a deal for Suzuki could become possible.

The Japanese international, however, is attracting serious interest from several major clubs, including Leeds United, Aston Villa, and Paris Saint-Germain.

PSG manager Luis Enrique is keen on Suzuki, although uncertainty surrounding Lucas Chevalier’s future could delay the French club’s move and potentially open the door for Juventus.

For now, Vicario appears to be the safest and most attainable option, while Suzuki represents an exciting investment for both the present and the future.

Martinez remains Spalletti’s dream signing, but unless Aston Villa soften their stance, Juventus may soon be forced to turn their full attention elsewhere.
