DardanJuventus vs PSV Eindhoven in a crucial two-legged play-off tie. For a spot in the Round of 16 in this season’s UEFA Champions League. The first leg is set to take place on Tuesday at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, with both teams eager to advance. Here’s everything you need to know about this exciting encounter.
This marks only the second time Juventus and PSV have met in a major European competition. The first meeting came in the group stage of this year’s Champions League, where Juventus triumphed 3-1 at home in September. That victory gave the Bianconeri an early advantage and strengthened their position in the competition.
Juventus vs PSV the records
Historically, Juventus has fared well against Dutch sides in the Champions League. Out of 15 matches against teams from the Netherlands, they have lost just three times, winning seven and drawing five. Their form in recent years has been strong, with seven wins in their last 11 encounters, alongside two draws and two defeats. This solid record should give the Italian giants confidence as they prepare to face PSV again.
On the other hand, PSV will look to break a troubling trend in their European encounters with Italian clubs. They have not won any of their last five Champions League matches against Italian opponents, managing just one draw and suffering four losses. This represents their longest winless streak against teams from a single nation. And they will need to overcome this hurdle if they are to advance.

Despite this, PSV has enjoyed a successful run in the Champions League in recent years. Securing a place in the knockout stages for the second consecutive season. This marks their first back-to-back qualification for the latter stages of the competition. Since a run of three consecutive appearances between 2004 and 2007, showcasing the club’s resilience and growth in European football.
PSV’s road to this stage of the tournament has been impressive. They finished with 14 points in their group, surpassing Juventus, who ended with 12 points. PSV’s results included four victories against Liverpool, Red Star Belgrade, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Girona. As well as draws with Sporting and Paris Saint-Germain. Their only losses came against Juventus and Stade Brest, and now, they aim to reverse their fortunes in this knockout tie.
As for Juventus, their current form has been mixed. In Serie A, they occupy fifth place, just two points behind fourth-place Lazio. The team has been in decent domestic form, with a narrow 1-0 victory away to Como 1907 last weekend, thanks to an 89th-minute goal. Prior to that, they secured an impressive 4-1 win, but their most recent European outing ended in a disappointing 2-0 loss to SL Benfica at home. Showing the inconsistencies they need to address in order to progress further in the Champions League.
Juventus stats and key players
Juventus coach Thiago Motta has several key players at his disposal, which will be crucial in this high-stakes tie. Striker Dušan Vlahović has been in prolific form, netting 13 goals so far this season. And he will be looking to add more to his tally in these crucial matches. Midfielder Weston McKennie has also contributed with four goals and will play a vital role in Juventus’s attack. New signing Randal Kolo Muani, who arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, is another attacking threat that PSV will need to be wary of. Youngster Kenan Yildiz, who scored in their previous encounter with PSV, is also expected to feature prominently.
Defensively, Juventus will rely on the steady performances of their backline, particularly Federico Gatti, who has been impressive in the current Champions League campaign. Gatti has completed 105 forward plays, one of only two defenders to have surpassed 100 forward plays in the tournament’s league phase, showcasing his ability to contribute both defensively and in attack.
PSV, under the guidance of Peter Bosz, will need to find a way to break down Juventus’s defense and capitalize on any opportunities. Although they were defeated 3-1 in the first leg earlier in the season. They will draw confidence from their solid group-stage campaign and the experience they gained from competing in the knockout rounds last year.
Expected lineup Juventus vs PSV
Both teams will be looking to make a strong start in the first leg at the Allianz Stadium, as they battle for a coveted spot in the Round of 16. Juventus’s impressive European pedigree and solid form against Dutch teams gives them the edge. But PSV’s determination and strong group-stage showing make them a formidable opponent. This encounter promises to be a thrilling clash between two sides with much to play for in their quest for Champions League glory.
Thiago Motta is expected to play with this lineup according to Sky Sport Italia ⬇️
