Spotlights are turning toward a new right-back target at Juventus. After pursuing Nahuel Molina, the club’s attention has now shifted to Malo Gusto.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus continues to monitor the right-back market closely ahead of the January 2026 transfer window. During the summer, the Turin club had serious talks for Molina, who ultimately stayed with Atlético Madrid.

Now, the Bianconeri see Gusto as an exciting new option. In the summer, Juventus came very close to signing Molina. The Argentine, familiar to Serie A fans from his time at Udinese, remained one of the hottest names until the final days of negotiations.
Director Giovanni Comolli made an effort to bring him in, but Molina decided to remain a key player under Diego Simeone in Madrid. The interest in him has not completely faded, and Juventus might make another move if conditions change.
Malo Gusto under the radar
Meanwhile, the Juventus management has begun a detailed evaluation of Malo Gusto as a serious alternative. The 22-year-old French defender is considered one of Europe’s most promising young full-backs.
A product of Lyon’s academy, Gusto joined Chelsea in 2023 and is now working under coach Enzo Maresca. His adaptation to the Premier League has been steady.
In the first seven matches, he has already played over 400 minutes, starting in four and coming off the bench in three. Juventus is keeping a close eye, ready to step in should Chelsea open the door for negotiations.

Gusto seems to fit perfectly into Igor Tudor’s tactical plans. He is quick, technically skilled, and capable of covering the entire right flank. His versatility allows him to perform in both a traditional four-man defense and a wing-back system.
Beyond his abilities, his youth and potential for growth make him an attractive long-term investment. Juventus currently lacks depth on the right side, where Pierre Kalulu has been adapted to the role, with Joao Mario as a backup.
If the opportunity arises, signing Malo Gusto could represent a strategic and forward-looking move for Juventus, reinforcing a key position for the club’s future.
