3 clubs wants Gatti, Juventus have the replacement

Juventus’ defensive line has come under increasing scrutiny after a series of costly performances in recent weeks. As reported by Tuttosport, the Bianconeri’s backline could be the first department to undergo significant changes in the near future.

The numbers tell the story. Juventus conceded twice against Lazio and three times versus Inter in Serie A. In the Coppa Italia, Atalanta struck three times, while a heavy five-goal defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League further exposed the team’s defensive fragility.

Such results have inevitably sparked internal evaluations, with the club hierarchy considering adjustments to restore solidity and balance.

Gatti’s Future in the Balance

One of the names at the center of speculation is Federico Gatti. Since the arrival of Luciano Spalletti, the defender appears to have slipped down the pecking order.

No longer viewed as a guaranteed starter—or even a primary backup—Gatti’s situation has drawn attention from several clubs. During the January transfer window, AC Milan showed concrete interest, but Juventus rejected loan proposals, even those involving a fee.

Sporting director Damien Comolli reportedly stood firm, signaling that only a permanent deal would be considered. A valuation in the region of €20 million has been mentioned as a potential benchmark for negotiations.

Recently, Olympique Lyonnais have entered the conversation, making contact with the player’s entourage.

Should Lyon secure qualification for next season’s Champions League, they could have the financial muscle to complete such an operation—potentially offering a valuable reinforcement to coach Paulo Fonseca. Meanwhile, interest from Nottingham Forest and West Ham United appears less advanced at this stage.

Senesi a Possible Replacement

If Gatti departs, Juventus are already exploring alternatives. Talks remain active regarding Marcos Senesi, the Argentine center-back currently at AFC Bournemouth.

The 1997-born defender could become available on a free transfer, making him an attractive market opportunity.

Competition for Senesi is intense, and Juventus are working to position themselves ahead of rival suitors. While the club will not wait indefinitely, this track remains one to watch closely as the summer window approaches.
