First January transfer arrives from Sassuolo

Juventus could make another move for one of Sassuolo’s brightest young talents, with Darryl Bakola emerging as a potential transfer target for the Bianconeri.

The French midfielder joined Sassuolo from Marseille in February for a reported €10 million, in a deal strongly backed by Neroverdi CEO Giovanni Carnevali.

At the time, Carnevali was full of praise for the 2007-born talent, describing Bakola as a major signing with enormous potential and one of the most technically gifted young players in French football.

Looking back now, it is fair to say that Carnevali may have spotted Bakola’s potential early.

Juventus Already Made an Approach for Darryl Bakola

According to Nicolò Schira, Juventus had already made an approach to Sassuolo towards the end of August in an attempt to bring Bakola to Turin. However, the Neroverdi immediately rejected the idea of selling their young midfielder.

Sassuolo sporting director Palmieri was particularly firm during the final days of the summer transfer window, making it clear that “Bakola is not for sale.”

The club are convinced that this season could be the one in which the Frenchman truly breaks through and establishes himself at the highest level. For that reason, selling him immediately was considered a mistake, especially after investing heavily in his potential.

Juventus, however, could return to the negotiating table as early as January. With the Bianconeri currently dealing with significant midfield injury problems, Bakola could become a concrete option for the winter transfer window.

The Turin club may also look to move early before the midfielder’s value rises further and a potential bidding war develops.

If Bakola continues to impress at Sassuolo, Juventus could face considerably stronger competition for his signature in the future.
