Dusan Vlahovic to renew with Juventus

The future of Dusan Vlahovic at Juventus remains uncertain, even though the club hasn’t closed the door to a potential contract renewal reports Calciomercato. As the Serbian striker approaches the final stages of his current deal, questions regarding his future continue to loom large.

Giorgio Chiellini, Juventus’ Director of Football Strategy, recently provided an open-ended response on the matter, suggesting that while it’s not impossible, the situation remains complicated.

Vlahovic’s contract with the Bianconeri runs until June 2026, marking what could be the final year of his tenure at Juventus. With his contract expiring in the summer of 2026, discussions around a renewal have become increasingly pertinent.

This past summer, despite interest from clubs like Milan, Vlahovic chose to stay at Juventus, determined to prove his worth. Juventus, however, appeared open to parting ways with him earlier than expected, seeking to avoid losing him for free when his contract expires.

The financial and technical obstacles

There are several challenges facing any potential renewal. Financially, Vlahovic is currently one of the highest-paid players at the club, reportedly earning up to 12 million euros with bonuses this season—an amount unlikely to remain sustainable for Juventus, especially given the club’s ongoing efforts to restructure financially.

For any talks to begin, a significant reduction in salary would be necessary to align with the club’s new wage structure. The second-highest earner at Juventus, Jonathan David, currently earns around 6 million euros—roughly half of Vlahovic’s wages.

Beyond the financial side, Juventus must also evaluate the player’s technical and on-field contribution. While Vlahovic has had a solid start to the season, questions remain about whether he’s the long-term solution as Juventus’ central striker.

From a tactical standpoint, the club needs to determine whether Vlahovic is the right player to lead the attack in the coming years.

Chiellini speak about Vlahovic’s future

Despite these concerns, Chiellini’s comments suggest that the possibility of a continued partnership hasn’t been ruled out. He emphasized that Juventus is willing to sit down with Vlahovic and his representatives to discuss the future.

The club’s attitude seems to reflect a willingness to explore all options before making a final decision. Although Juventus was ready to let go of Vlahovic last summer, the club’s actions in the transfer market hinted at a change in direction.

The arrival of Jonathan David in the summer, followed by the signing of Lois Openda on the final day of the transfer window, indicated that Juventus had been preparing for the possibility of parting ways with Vlahovic.

However, despite the signing of Openda, the club still found itself in a position where Vlahovic remained a part of their plans—at least for the time being. Juventus is at a crossroads with Vlahovic.

The club’s future plans appear to have been set for some time, but the final decision on Vlahovic’s future is still very much up in the air. Both the player’s willingness to compromise on his salary and his continued performance on the pitch will play crucial roles in determining whether he remains at Juventus for the long term.

As Chiellini wisely noted, “Nothing is impossible,” leaving room for hope, but with plenty of challenges ahead. Whether this will result in a successful renewal or a departure in the near future remains to be seen. For now, Juventus remains in a delicate balancing act, weighing both financial constraints and sporting ambitions before deciding on Vlahovic’s future.
