Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has shared his thoughts on the Bianconeri, praising the work of Luciano Spalletti, reflecting on the Champions League clash with Galatasaray, and commenting on the form of Weston McKennie and rising star Kenan Yildiz.

Speaking at an event celebrating the partnership between Haier and Lega Serie A, Del Piero highlighted the progress Juventus have made under their new manager.

“Spalletti Has Brought a Clear Turning Point”

“Everyone has done a great job, starting with him,” Del Piero said. “Spalletti has brought about a clear change of direction, even if there have been a few setbacks, which are only natural.”

In comments reported by Corriere della Sera, the former Juventus captain added:

“Today Juventus have shown a certain edge, a very clear idea of how they want to approach matches. Everything seems to be moving in the right direction. Of course, we’re keeping our fingers crossed for them, but despite the difficulties, they’ve handled things well.”

Praise for McKennie

Del Piero also spoke highly of Weston McKennie, underlining his versatility and importance to the team.

“He’s played in several roles, showing great adaptability, and that’s something Spalletti clearly appreciates,” Del Piero said. “He’s already delivered goals and assists in the past, and seeing him confirm that level again is a very positive sign for Juventus.”

Champions League: “Strong Chances to Go Through”

When asked about Juventus’ Champions League ambitions, Del Piero urged caution but remained optimistic.

“I think they need to take things one step at a time. This isn’t the year—especially with a coaching change—to say ‘we’re reaching the final,’” he explained. “Spalletti and the team are working to build a strong identity that allows them to compete with anyone. That means aiming to win every match, regardless of the opponent.”

On the upcoming tie against Galatasaray, Del Piero was confident:

“They have a strong chance of progressing, considering the current situation, the second leg at home, and the high level of confidence around the team.”

Scudetto Dreams? “Why Not?”
Del Piero did not rule out a potential return to the Scudetto race.

“Why not? There’s renewed confidence and solidity,” he said. “I don’t know if it’s their main objective, and other teams have shown greater consistency so far, but there are still plenty of matches to play. You always have to believe, especially since this project started later than others. Who knows?”

On Yildiz: Finally, Del Piero addressed comparisons surrounding Kenan Yildiz, urging patience and individuality.

“I’ve always avoided comparisons,” he said. “He’s growing, and match after match he’s showing he can take responsibility, even in important games. He’s improved a lot, and you can see his commitment, as well as his desire to learn from more experienced teammates—just as I did when I was young.”

He concluded:

“The truth is that beyond what he can take from others, he has to build his own unique journey. He needs to carve out his own place in the world.”
