The Juventus transfer market remains highly dynamic, especially regarding midfield reinforcements. One name stands out above all: Morten Hjulmand.

Juventus have long admired the Danish midfielder, currently playing for Sporting CP. With Douglas Luiz likely leaving, the Bianconeri see Hjulmand as the perfect mix of strength and skill for their midfield rebuild.

Borges Speaks Out: “There’s a Clause”. Sporting Lisbon manager Rui Borges addressed the media ahead of their Portuguese Super Cup clash with Benfica. Unsurprisingly, questions about the transfer market came up—particularly about Hjulmand’s future.

Borges was clear: “He has a release clause. Whoever wants him must speak to the president.” He emphasized the player’s focus and commitment, saying, “He’s motivated, he leads by example, and he’s fully engaged in training.”

The coach also added some humor: “He’s different now—he got married,” he joked. Still, Borges remained firm, making it clear that Sporting won’t make negotiations easy.

Juventus interest strong, but talks are distant

Hjulmand’s contract runs until June 2028 and includes an €80 million release clause. While Sporting might consider lowering their asking price slightly, a major gap remains between them and Juventus.

Despite this, Juve have one advantage—the player’s interest reports TuttoSport. Hjulmand reportedly appreciates the idea of joining the Italian giants. Though no personal agreement has been finalized, reaching one with the midfielder may prove easier than convincing Sporting to sell.

Seen in Denmark as a possible successor to Christian Eriksen, Hjulmand’s profile fits perfectly with Juventus coach Igor Tudor’s system.

His technical ability, tactical awareness, and physical presence could bring balance and creativity to the Juventus midfield.

For now, however, Sporting are standing firm. Whether Juventus will raise their bid or seek alternatives remains to be seen.
