Barcelona leave the race to sign Juventus player

Barcelona have seen an important attacking option slip away ahead of future transfer plans. The club has decided not to rely on Robert Lewandowski for the 2025–2026 season.

Despite Ferran Torres showing solid form, the board wants a proven replacement. Finding a reliable goalscorer is now one of the club’s top priorities. Lewandowski’s situation remains unresolved at board level.

Barcelona must choose between extending his contract or allowing a free departure. A short renewal could help generate income through a future transfer. Letting him leave for free remains another possible outcome.
Either decision creates an urgent need for a new striker.

Sport via Fichajes reports that Deco and his recruitment team have closely studied the market. Their focus is finding a forward capable of maintaining high scoring numbers.

Lewandowski’s consistent goal output makes the task even more demanding.
Among the preferred candidates was Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.
However, that option is no longer under consideration.

Why Vlahovic Is No Longer an Option

Vlahovic seemed destined to leave Juventus under the Tudor era. His relationship with supporters had reportedly deteriorated significantly. His contract runs until 2026, with no extension expected at the time. Barcelona viewed this as a potential market opportunity.

Circumstances changed following the arrival of Luciano Spalletti. The new coach publicly expressed trust in Vlahovic as his main striker. This shift reduced Juventus’ willingness to facilitate a move.

Another decisive factor was the striker’s salary demands. Vlahovic reportedly earns close to twelve million euros per season. Barcelona’s financial limitations made such wages impossible.

From a sporting perspective, the fit was ideal. Vlahovic shares several traits with Lewandowski’s playing profile. He operates comfortably as a reference striker in structured attacks.

Ferran Torres offers a different style, relying on movement and space. For Hansi Flick’s system, Vlahovic made tactical sense. Financial reality, however, ended any serious pursuit.

Catalan media continue linking Barcelona with Julián Álvarez. The Atlético Madrid forward has not shown peak form recently. No clear decision from Barcelona has yet emerged regarding him. As things stand, Ferran Torres would start next season as first choice. The campaign begins in August, following the United States World Cup.

Last season, Vlahovic played 41 matches across all competitions. He exceeded 2,500 minutes with Juventus. He scored 15 goals and provided five assists.
