Zidane to Juventus: Could the dream come true?

Forza Juventus

For the past four years, Juventus fans have shared one dream above all others — seeing Zinedine Zidane return home. The legend who once elevated the black-and-white jersey remains a symbol of excellence and pride.

From the boardroom, where many wish for Alessandro Del Piero’s return, to the bench, Zidane’s name dominates conversations. At the Trento Sports Festival, Zidane reflected on his career and the unforgettable years spent in Turin.

“Those years at Juventus were wonderful,” he recalled warmly. I came from France, where football was good, but not like it was at Juve. There, winning was everything — at home or away, it didn’t matter. The club taught me that only victory counts.”

He shared an affectionate memory of former club president Gianni Agnelli. “When I played well, he would call me at six in the morning to congratulate me,” Zidane said. He was a gentleman and a true football lover.”

After retiring, Zidane faced uncertainty. “I didn’t know what to do for three years,” he admitted. Then I decided to study to become a coach.”

Among his mentors, Marcello Lippi holds a special place. “He was the one I learned the most from,” said Zidane. “At first, things were tough, but he always believed in me.” He also praised Carlo Ancelotti: “He was first my coach, later my colleague and friend. He always listened to his players.”

Between France and Juventus: What lies ahead for Zizou?

After five glorious years managing Real Madrid, Zidane took a long, reflective break. He wanted to rest and choose his next project carefully. When asked whether he could ever coach Juventus, his answer was sincere:

“I don’t know why it hasn’t happened. Other choices were made. Juve is in my heart; it gave me so much. In the future, who knows? One of my goals is to coach the French national team. We’ll see.”

Reports in France suggest that Zidane is destined to replace Didier Deschamps after the upcoming World Cup in the United States. If that happens, he will likely remain focused on France for at least four years. For Juventus fans, that means more waiting — but hope never fades in Turin.

Zidane himself believes the club is on the right path under Igor Tudor. “With him, the team is improving step by step,” he said. And about rising star Kenan Yildiz? “I like him. He’s talented and scores goals, but he still needs to grow physically.”

For now, Zidane remains an admirer from afar — but for Juventus supporters, the dream of “Zizou as coach” burns brighter than ever.
