Zidane : “Juventus must sign this striker …”

The arrival of Zinédine Zidane as France’s new head coach could usher in a new era for the national team, including a fresh approach to player selection after Didier Deschamps’ 14-year tenure.

While Deschamps often relied on continuity and a well-established core, several players who had previously remained on the fringes could now have an opportunity to break into the squad.

Among them is Estéban Lepaul, who enjoyed a remarkable campaign with Rennes and has emerged as one of the most intriguing French strikers of the moment.

Lepaul finished the latest Ligue 1 season with 21 goals, becoming the league’s top scorer and confirming his rapid development. Despite his impressive numbers, however, he was not selected by Deschamps for the World Cup.

The striker accepted the decision without creating controversy, instead allowing his performances on the pitch to speak for him.

Estéban Lepaul : A Profile That Could Appeal to Zidane

France’s attacking competition remains fierce, but Lepaul offers qualities that differ from many of the other forwards available to Zidane.

He is a classic penalty-box striker, capable of attacking space and finding the right position in the final third. He does not need to constantly participate in the build-up to make an impact; his greatest strength is his ability to turn his teammates’ work into goals.

That particular profile could make him an interesting option for Zidane. Lepaul would not necessarily have to become a starter for Les Bleus, but he could provide a valuable tactical solution in tight matches when France need greater presence in the box and more efficiency in front of goal.

According to TuttoJuve, Zidane is also recommending Lepaul to some of his former clubs, with Juventus among the teams to have been mentioned.

His goalscoring record has already created a strong case for consideration, although the striker will now have to prove that he can maintain his level after his rise to prominence.

The expectations will be higher, opponents will know more about him, and Lepaul will need to demonstrate that he can make an impact at the highest level, including in European competition.

A call-up from Zidane cannot be considered automatic, but Lepaul has built a credible case through his goals. If he continues finding the net while improving his ability to contribute outside the penalty area, it will become increasingly difficult to overlook him.

And his rise could now have implications beyond the French national team. Zidane’s recommendation could put Lepaul on the radar of Juventus, giving the Bianconeri another intriguing French attacking option to monitor.
